Ariana and Dad’s Heartwarming Reunion!
Ariana Grande had a touching encounter with her dad, Ed Butera, while filming her recently released short movie titled “Brighter Days Ahead.
31-year-old Grande shared numerous candid images from the making of the short film, one of which was a touching photo showcasing a special moment between her and her father, who is also featured in the production.
66-year-old Butera tenderly pressed a kiss on his grinning daughter’s forehead while they were standing near a trailer, dressed in their costumes.
Although most of Ariana’s attire was concealed beneath a robe, only her facial and neck markings were visible, her father appeared unidentifiable due to his thick beard and long, wavy hair.
The touching photograph carries a significant emotional impact, given Ariana’s remarkable progress in rebuilding her bond with her father, following the difficult period of estrangement they experienced.
The 26-minute film is part of the expanded version of Ariana’s 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine, titled Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Looking Forward to Brighter Days.
In the movie, the actress reprises her character Peaches, who she originally portrayed in the 2024 music video of her popular song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” where she made her first appearance.
This brief movie delves more deeply into the concept introduced in last year’s video, which drew upon the 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” In the narrative, the character named Peaches visits a facility where they attempt to erase her recollections.
At the start of the extended video, there was a scene featuring a more mature Ariana, comfortably seated in a wheelchair, waiting in the reception area of Brighter Days Inc.
Shortly after, a nurse emerged and summoned ‘Peaches’, but Grande didn’t catch it at first because her hearing aid wasn’t functioning optimally.
Later, the star found herself in a room where she could replay some of her cherished memories on a large screen – memories that would be permanently wiped out from her consciousness afterward.
Throughout the short film, new songs from the deluxe album were played, such as Twilight Zone.
The first memory showed Ariana from her younger childhood days followed by her time as a pop star.
Previously, the star was spotted wandering amidst the debris of a house, eventually exiting to reveal an entire town lying in ruins to onlookers.
She navigated her path amidst the wreckage and erratic fires, continuing onward until she found herself sheltering under a massive Unidentified Flying Object (UFO), at which point she was taken aboard by the spacecraft.
The last memory showcased Grande’s track Hampstead and features her real-life father.
In the past, he portrayed a character who established the present-day Brighter Days Clinic, yet his on-screen actions occurred prior to the achievement of his business success.
In a manner reminiscent of Victor Frankenstein, her father was mending his daughter, and their shared moment at the piano carried a deep emotional resonance.
In 2013, Ariana had a significant disagreement with her dad that she hasn’t shared much information about since then.
However, she briefly shed light on the situation during an interview with Seventeen back in 2014.
The estrangement was the toughest thing Ariana had ever faced.
She mentioned that the most challenging experience for her has been growing apart from her father. It’s a personal matter that transpired last year. It took a significant amount of time for her to accept and come to terms with it.
What propelled me forward was acknowledging that I’m a blend of half my father, and many of my characteristics stem from him.
A significant portion of who I am stems from my father, yet for a prolonged time, I found that aspect of me undesirable. I’ve come to understand that it’s possible not to see eye-to-eye with someone and still cherish them deeply.
Since then, they’ve made changes in their behavior and have fostered a stronger, more harmonious bond. In fact, Ariana has revised the words to her hit song “thank u, next” to mirror this enhanced relationship.
