Are we about to see a lot more James Kirk in season four of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

As a long-time Trekkie with memories of the original series etched into my very being, I must say that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been nothing short of a delightful journey back to the stars. The show’s focus on Christopher Pike and his intrepid crew has offered a captivating glimpse into the lives of these characters we thought we knew so well.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a series centered around Captain Christopher Pike and his daring team, providing insights into the events leading from The Menagerie to The Cage in the original series. This show offers a chance to delve deeper into the character of Pike, the first captain seen on Star Trek screens, while also developing characters we would have encountered had the original pilot been produced.

Specifically, Una Chin-Riley has been a delightful part of our journey. Although not all characters from the initial episode are present, we’re witnessing significant character development and investigation in every actor involved. This growth isn’t limited to those who were there since the beginning, but also includes newcomers who joined the series later on.

Beyond merely chronicling Pike’s life before the accident or the dynamics within his crew, this narrative also delves into the journey that transformed James T. Kirk into the captain of the USS Enterprise. Since season one, we’ve been introduced to Paul Wesley as a younger James Kirk. This character is different from the Kirk we knew from the Original Series, and through this series, we witness the young command officer evolve into the hero who would later steer the USS Enterprise in all its forms.

It wasn’t unexpected when Wesley was given more episodes in season two since he had become an important figure, even though he remained a semi-regular character. However, a recent article from TrekMovie.com suggests that Wesley may have a greater part to play in season four.

Wesley spoke about needing to take time away from his whiskey business to be more available for Star Trek. If he was only doing the odd episode still, as we saw in seasons one and two, then he likely wouldn’t be giving up so much of his duties to people he works with. At least, that’s the working theory.

Currently, Season 3 is airing and production for Season 4 begins in February 2025. Given this, it seems Strange New Worlds might be nearing its end. If fortune favors us, there could be a fifth season, potentially concluding with Pike’s long-held faith being realized.

It seems quite plausible that their allegiance might shift towards Wesley and Kirk as the series nears its conclusion. However, this is merely conjecture with no solid basis.
