Arcane season 2 has dropped a new trailer, and it's looking ugly for sisters Jinx and Vi

As a seasoned gamer with decades of virtual battles under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming second season of Arcane is shaping up to be an absolute game-changer. Having grown up playing League of Legends and following its lore closely, it’s a dream come true to see such a captivating adaptation hit our screens.

Approaching the release date for Season 2 and its conclusion, Netflix’s Emmy-winning animated series, Arcane, based on the hit game League of Legends. The countdown starts as the streaming platform unveils a fresh trailer. In the first season, Jinx fired a rocket into Piltover’s leadership meeting, leaving her sister Vi in shock and despair; we are left to wonder what transpires next, but it’s unlikely to be pleasant

It was almost inevitable that Jinx’s actions would significantly alter the relationship between the affluent upper city and the slums of Zaun. From this latest trailer, it seems that prediction is being fulfilled in a massive manner. Take a look:

This trailer is packed with thrilling moments! We’ve always expected tension between Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) this season, but it seems their struggles will reach new, ominous heights. Jinx appears to be the leader of a rebellion in the undercity, while Vi takes on a role in Piltover’s law enforcement. However, she might undergo a change with a new hair color and wardrobe at some point during the season. The drama, action, intense sibling rivalry, and widespread societal unrest promise a rollercoaster ride of emotions…and it looks like Arcane is making a powerful comeback!

“According to a press release, the animated series ‘ARCANE’ produced by Riot Games will be back on Netflix in November. This popular animated series, which is set in the world of ‘League of Legends’, was created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. The executive producers are Linke, Marc Merrill, and Brandon Beck. Fortiche Production is responsible for the animation. Notable voices include Hailee Steinfeld as Vi, Ella Purnell as Jinx, Katie Leung as Caitlyn, Reed Shannon as Ekko, Amirah Vann as Sevika, Mick Wingert as Heimerdinger, Ellen Thomas as Ambessa, and Brett Tucker as Singed. More voices will be announced soon.”

Netflix has shared several fresh snapshots from the series as well, featuring Jinx in a casual hoodie, giving an impression of appraising or critiquing something

Next, we’ve got Vi facing off against a shadowy terror:

It seems highly probable that the large werewolf you see is Warwick, a familiar character from League of Legends, who is expected to appear in this upcoming season. However, there are whispers suggesting Warwick might share intriguing ties with Vi and Jinx’s past, but we can only confirm these connections when season 2 unfolds

Up next, I come across an enigmatic character with a glowing orb hovering above their hand, surrounded by twinkling stars against a dark backdrop. Frankly, I haven’t the slightest clue who this individual is, but the trailer hints at “the Arcane awakening.” Given that much of the narrative in Arcane revolves around the emergence of magic within this universe, it seems reasonable to assume that season 2 will delve deeper into this theme, gradually expanding the influence of magic across the realm – a phenomenon we’re all too familiar with in League of Legends

The image may not appear so initially, but it depicts Vi once more, now with black hair and numerous cuts and bruises. What’s going to happen to her this season? Whatever the coming events, I sense they will be particularly grueling for the sisters at the core of this series

Towards the end, we see Ambessa, Mel’s estranged mother from Noxus, making a bold entrance into conflict. Ambessa was a significant player in stirring up trouble among Piltover’s nobility during season 1. She has a harder, warlike personality compared to her daughter, but the power dynamics of season 1 kept her in check. It appears that she will have more freedom to pursue her goals in season 2, hinting at declaring martial law in the trailer. What might possibly go wrong?

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but wrap up this Arcane discussion without giving a shout-out to the music! In the first season, we were treated to a variety of tunes from the band Imagine Dragons. It remains to be seen if they’ll be part of the second season, but the trailer introduces us to the lead single from the soundtrack: “Paint The Town Blue” by Ashnikko

Even if you’re not a fan of Imagine Dragons, the music in this series is top-notch. The second season of Arcane will be available on Netflix starting November. Meanwhile, those who missed the first season can catch it on Blu-Ray and 4K UHD, releasing on October 8
