Arc World Tour 2024: Games, events, format [Finals participants added]
As we near the Final Event of the Arc World Tour 2024, who managed to make it past a challenging series of qualifiers this year?
Arc System Works is among the top development studios globally, particularly renowned for creating fighting games. They are actively involved in fostering their game’s competitive community. In 2024, they have planned the Arc World Tour, which promises to be the most esteemed competition series for selected titles. We are excited to share the specifics about AWT 2024, such as its schedule and competition format.
AWT 2024 games
The Tour showcases three recently created and released fighting games, which are the work of Arc System Works.
- Guilty Gear Strive
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- Uni2 (Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes)
Competitive format of the Arc World Tour 2024
The league encompasses various official and community competitions. Qualifying for Official Qualifiers (Platinum tier) grants a direct pass to the AWT 2024 Finals. Reaching Top 8 in smaller events (Gold and Silver tiers) accumulates league points, with top-ranked players from the overall standings also advancing to the Finals.
In this unique case, Uni2 won’t have the opportunity to queue up like usual. Instead, only victors from the Platinum Qualifiers will receive immediate invitations to participate in the game.
AWT 2024 Finals happen in Spring of 2025. There will be:
- 16 spots for Guilty Gear Strive players
- 16 spots for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- 8 spots for Uni2
Contenders might be eagerly anticipating receiving their last-minute invitations at the Preliminary Qualifying Tournaments, a customary occurrence that takes place just prior to the principal competition.

What happened to TempestNYC?
To begin with the Arc World Tour 2024, it looked like TempestNYC was invincible. He triumphed at Evo Japan 2024 and Combo Breaker 2024. However, his whereabouts became a mystery after that, as he wasn’t among the participants in the AWT 2024 Finals. So, what became of TempestNYC?
In July 2024, allegations arose about inappropriate conduct involving TempestNYC from members within the Fighting Games Community (FGC). Specifically, they claimed he made unwanted sexual advances. After admitting to being under the influence of alcohol, TempestNYC apologized and chose to step away from competing. Consequently, his position at the Finals event was given to sanakan who had come in second at Evo Japan 2024.
Arc World Tour 2024 prize pools
Winners of the Finals for GGST and GBVS: Rising will get $50,000. A UNi2 winner will get $20,000.
Who won AWT 2023?
As a dedicated gamer in 2023, I found myself drawn to the Arc World Tour once again, yet this time around, it seemed a bit familiar. The same trio of games were on the roster – Guilty Gear Strive, GBVS: Rising, and Uni2 – but what truly stood out was the longevity commitment to Guilty Gear Strive. The year-long league for this game made it a must-play for any serious competitor like myself. On the other hand, GBVS: Rising and Uni2 opted for a more compact qualifier format, making it a bit tougher for me to keep up with both of those titles alongside my Guilty Gear Strive grind.
The winners of three Finals are:
- Ismaila “Verix” Gueye from Senegal is the Guilty Gear Strive AWT 2023 Champion
- Junichi “Fukunaga” Kumano from Japan is the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising AWT 2023 Champion
- Randy “Knotts” from the U.S. is the UNi2 AWT 2023 Champion
What is Guilty Gear Strive?
This is a well-known anime-style fighting game, developed by Arc System Works themselves. Known as Guilty Gear Strive (GGST), it was released in 2021 and has attracted much interest from both the fighting games community and general gamers. The game boasts stunning visuals and an impressive soundtrack. Notably, a new character called A.B.A has been added to the roster recently.
What is Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising?
The game we’re discussing is modeled after the popular Japanese social app/game Granblue Fantasy. What sets it apart is its streamlined control system, making combat easier and more approachable for those new to the role-playing genre.
GBVS: Rising has a free-to-play version with a weekly rotation of characters.
A big RPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink was released in February 2024 for PS4, PS5, and Windows.
What is Uni2?
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share some exciting insights about the Under Night In-Birth series. This captivating franchise wasn’t single-handedly crafted by us; instead, it was masterfully created by another esteemed Japanese studio known as French-Bread. Now, here’s where things get even more intriguing: while we, Arc System Works, aren’t the sole creators of this series, we do play a significant role in its development and publication, similar to our collaborative efforts on games like Dragon Ball FighterZ with Bandai Namco. So, in essence, we’re part of the team that brings this incredible series to life!
Uni2 offers players an exceptional narrative experience, marked by a broad range of gameplay mechanics and character templates. This is an anime-style game that boasts a highly devoted fan community.
