ARAM rework: Champion cards & map rotation featuring Butcher’s Bridge!
Great news for fans of ARAM! Instead of rerolls, you’ll now find champion cards. Additionally, expect to see maps like Butcher’s Bridge and Koeshin’s Crossing in the rotation.
In simple terms, Riot Games has shared a wealth of fresh details about League of Legends’ Season 2 Act 2, which highlights significant updates heading towards the popular game mode known as All Random All Mid (ARAM).
Goodbye ARAM rerolls, hello champion cards
Rerolls are being completely removed from the game mode and will be replaced by champion cards.
Previously in ARAM (All Random All Mid), when choosing your champion, you’d get one character and the chance to use your rerolls, with a maximum of two. In a single match, you could roll up to three champions. But, you didn’t always have those two rerolls ready; they needed time to recharge. The rate at which they recharged depended on the number of champions you possessed, reaching a maximum of one recharge earned per game played.
As a gamer, I’ll tell you about an exciting change coming up! In the new game setup, when it’s time to choose my champion, I’ll be dealt two cards at the start. One I’ll keep in hand, while the other goes on the bench. Just like before, I can swap out champions from the bench if I want to. Occasionally, instead of two cards, I might get three! According to Riot Cadmus, the League of Legends modes lead, the chance of getting three cards is random, but there’s a “pity system” in place. The number of champions I own affects the odds of getting an extra card, though the specifics are still being worked out.
ARAM map rotation: Koeshin’s Crossing and the return of Butcher’s Bridge
In addition to ARAM, the classic Butcher’s Bridge map is back after an absence since 2019! This iconic map now comes with exciting updates such as the Power Flower from the Arena and a Cannon for dramatic entrances into combat.
A fresh map, themed Spirit Blossom, is set to be added to the rotation. Koeshin’s Crossing shares the familiar single-lane structure with Howling Abyss, yet it brings innovative mechanisms to maintain excitement.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve picked up that, according to Riot Cadmus, our team has gained insights from the Bridge of Progress ARAM map. Essentially, this knowledge stems from the observation that players were keen to delve deeper into Runeterra, but the Bridge of Progress strayed too far from the essence of ARAM (All Random All Mid). To put it simply, Riot Cadmus mentioned that when introducing non-Howling Abyss maps, they opted for a more cautious approach and emphasized on preserving the heart and soul of ARAM.
As a gamer, every time I jump into an ARAM match, there’s a bit of excitement knowing that I might be dropped into one of the three rotating Howling Abyss maps. It keeps the action fresh and unpredictable!
