Okay, so League is doing something wild with ARAM! They’re adding those Augments – you know, the crazy power-ups from Arena – to regular ARAM games. Basically, it’s ARAM, but with even *more* chaos and unpredictable builds. It’s gonna be a blast!
League of Legends’ popular ARAM mode is changing with the introduction of Augments, creating a new, faster-paced experience called ARAM Mayhem.
What we know about ARAM: Mayhem
As a long-time League of Legends player, I’ve really come to appreciate Augments. They’ve become a key part of how we play, especially in modes like Arena – the 2v2 battles are so much more interesting with them – and of course, they’re central to the fun in Teamfight Tactics too!
The idea of Augments in ARAM isn’t brand new. It was first tested in a similar mode for Wild Rift last year, and because players loved it, it’s now coming to League of Legends.
ARAM Mayhem goes live on LoL patch 25.21, scheduled for Oct. 22, 2025.
Augments in ARAM: Mayhem
Okay, so as you level up, you’ll unlock cool new abilities called Augments at levels 7, 11, and 15. If you’re into the Arena like me, a lot of the Augments we already love are sticking around. But the best part? The developers are adding over 40 completely new Augments! That’s a ton of new ways to build your character and shake things up.
The latest developer blog and video revealed some of the new Augments coming to ARAM Mayhem. One Augment appears to let champions move even while frozen in Stasis. The video also showed an effect similar to the item Cruelty, suggesting we might see Prismatic items available in the shop as well.

Next up is Biggest Snowball Ever, which makes the Snowball ability from the Mark summoner spell much larger and knock enemies into the air when it hits. There are also other special upgrades tied to Snowball, and they only appear in ARAM mode. Snowball Upgrade lets your Snowball deal damage to an area, and Fetch lets you grab allies’ Snowballs to reset your Mark’s cooldown.

We’re also discovering more about new Augments. For example, “King Me” rewards you with powerful upgrades – like better items and a prismatic Augment – whenever you capture an enemy Hexgate, Bloom Portal, or Cannon.
Arena is played with two players per team, while ARAM features five players on each side. To keep team battles manageable, special, ongoing power-ups from Arena – called Augments – won’t be available in ARAM. This means you won’t see Augments like ‘Center of the Universe’ (which gives you orbiting stars) or ‘Slow Cooker’ (which constantly damages nearby enemies).
More on ARAM
The latest update relieved ARAM players, confirming that the original ARAM mode will remain available. Mayhem will be a distinct game mode added alongside it. However, it’s currently unclear whether Mayhem will be a permanent feature or only available for a limited time.
We originally planned to remove Butcher’s Bridge and Koeshin’s Crossing from the map rotation at the end of Season 2. However, after listening to player feedback, we’ve decided to keep them available indefinitely.
