The popular BBC soap opera is known for its April Fools’ Day pranks, and this year kept that tradition alive by teasing a major, never-before-seen development.

The planned special episode would have shown events in the Queen Vic pub from the perspective of the iconic Victoria bust. It would have revealed all the drama – every fight, secret, kiss, and even the pouring of pints – as if seen through the statue’s unwavering gaze, offering a unique view of Walford’s most famous pub.

People quickly figured it out, although some on Facebook thought it was a good idea and had potential.

Perhaps there’s something in it after all?

This Morning

Similar to the soap opera EastEnders, the daytime show This Morning is known for its April Fools’ Day jokes. Many still remember when Dermot O’Leary famously tricked Alison Hammond with a vase prank a few years ago.

Dermot and his colleague were a key part of this year’s comedy sketch. During the show, Dermot jokingly told viewers that his colleague’s famous laugh was voted the most popular sound in the country, even more loved than relaxing sounds like ocean waves, wine pouring, birds singing, or rain falling on a tent.

“I’m up there guys, I’ve made it,” Alison declared.

Dermot even told viewers they could download the laugh track as an MP3 from the This Morning website, but it turned out to be a joke – the link led to a confirmation that it was a prank.

A shame, as it would’ve given us a good serotonin boost.

Alan Carr

The TV show The Traitors is famous for its twists and turns, but fans were recently tricked by a fake article suggesting Alan Carr would be taking on the role of Claudia Winkleman in a stage adaptation of the show.

The comedian charmed the country last year by unexpectedly winning the first season of Celebrity, and WhatsOnStage just announced he’ll be back! He’s taking on the show’s famous wig for a 12-week engagement featuring songs and different outfits.

The evening would have incredibly ended with him performing ‘The Winner Takes It All’ by a firepit, likely creating a moment just as memorable as his well-known Adele cover.

It turns out the story wasn’t true – it was just a prank, as confirmed by a later update to the article. We don’t always get what we hope for, and this was one of those times.

Gemma Collins

It seemed like Gemma Collins misled some fans by suggesting she had secretly married her fiancé, Rami Hawash.

She revealed on Instagram that she recently had a secret wedding. Posting a photo of herself in a wedding dress, she explained that she didn’t marry as ‘the GC,’ but as herself, before she became famous. She married Rami Hawash, and described the day as beautiful, surrounded by loved ones. She said she was forced to share the news after stories began to spread.

Although some people seemed to believe her and offered congratulations, it looked like it might be a joke. Friends like Jedward hinted at this, referencing their time as “flower boys” and a dance lesson from Victoria Beckham.

“It was my pleasure to walk you down the aisle,” added comedian Seann Walsh.

Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall played an April Fools’ joke, creating a fake event called ‘Let Them Cook’ to try and attract a younger crowd.

The imagined events included ‘Doomscrolling in Concert,’ a performance designed to mimic the feeling of endlessly scrolling through depressing Instagram posts late at night, set to music by the UK Philharmonic Orchestra. Another event was ‘Aura Farming’ planned for Hyde Park.

The venue clarified that the announcement of a new show called ‘Let Them Cook’ aimed at younger audiences was a joke for April Fool’s Day. They added that their current ticketing program for those under 30 is a more reliable plan.

Iceland

As usual, lots of brands participated in the April Fools’ Day festivities, offering playful products like Asda’s oversized trolley seats and IKEA’s lollipop-shaped meatballs.

Okay, but Iceland really nailed it with their Doctor Who tribute! They made garlic bread shaped like a Dalek – they called it ‘Darlic Bread’ – and honestly, it was brilliant. I mean, who wouldn’t want to eat a Dalek-shaped garlic bread? It was perfect!

The retailer explained it was just an April Fools’ Day joke, but playfully added that they might actually consider making it a real product because of the enthusiastic reaction.

The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour 100-page magazine dedicated to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
