Apple TV’s Sci-Fi Show Pluribus Reimagines Iconic Breaking Bad Quote

Apple TV+’s latest sci-fi show is getting rave reviews with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It also cleverly reimagines one of the most famous lines from the series Breaking Bad.

Even more than ten years after it first aired, Breaking Bad is widely considered one of the greatest TV shows ever made – and for good reason. Many things contributed to its enduring popularity and impact, like the writing by Vince Gilligan, the actors’ performances, and its universal themes. But a huge part of its success is how memorable and shareable its lines of dialogue are.

As a huge fan of Breaking Bad, I still hear Walter White’s lines quoted all the time – they’re so iconic! There’s one quote in particular that really sticks with me and always reminds me of the show. It’s amazing to me that the new sci-fi series on Apple TV actually gives that quote even more weight and makes it feel fresh all over again.

Pluribus Brings A Fresh Spin To Walter White’s “I Am The Danger” Quote

Apple TV+’s Pluribus centers around Carol, who is rare in that she’s immune to a virus that makes everyone incredibly happy. As nearly the entire world becomes part of a single, joyful collective consciousness, Carol remains stubbornly unhappy and independent. This ultimately makes her a significant danger to those who are infected.

The third episode of Pluribus concludes with a chilling moment: Carol asks an infected person if they would comply with her demand for an atom bomb. Unsettled by the question, the infected individual responds with a programmed, automatic “Yes!” This demonstrates the infected’s complete obedience and confirms Carol’s dangerous nature.

As Carol understands she can control the infected, her power grows. Unlike Walter White from Breaking Bad, Carol’s imperfections actually make her the hero of Pluribus, and they make her relatable – more human than the infected themselves.

Similar to Walter White, Carol is beginning to understand that the infected people aren’t a threat. They, in turn, recognize how dangerous her immunity is, which is why they’re seeking a way to neutralize it. But before they can, Carol can use her unique position to outsmart them and turn the tables.

Carol’s Realization Of Being Dangerous Can Help Her Save The World In Pluribus

It’s still unclear what Carol’s role will be in Pluribus, but it seems she may eventually pose a danger to those infected if a cure isn’t discovered. The show has also revealed that the infected are working together, using their scientific expertise, to try and spread the infection to people who are currently immune.

Carol might have to use intimidation and demonstrate her power to get people to develop a cure for the virus. While she won’t need to go to the extremes seen in shows like Breaking Bad, a bit of pressure, as seen in the Apple TV series, could be very effective.
