The second season of the show, created by George Kay (known for Lupin, Criminal) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal, Litvinenko), will debut on Apple TV worldwide on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. ‘Hijack’ Has Been a Huge Hit for Apple TV
Released on Apple TV in 2023, Hijack unfolds in real time and has quickly become a major success for the streaming service. Critics have praised the first season, giving it a “Certified Fresh” rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and a spot among the top 10 streaming originals according to Nielsen.
Season 1 of Hijack stars Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, and Ben Miles, along with Idris Elba. I was really impressed with Hijack when it first came out. MovieWeb’s Julian Roman hit the nail on the head – the way the show unfolded in real-time was incredibly effective and kept me on the edge of my seat. And Idris Elba? He was fantastic! He played a man desperately trying to save the day, relying on his intelligence and courage to get back to his family. It’s a smart, thrilling summer watch that doesn’t talk down to the audience.
The second season of Hijack is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV on January 14th, and fans are eagerly anticipating another thrilling adventure with Idris Elba.
