Hugh Laurie’s spy thriller series has quickly become the most popular show on Apple TV+ worldwide. Apple TV+ offers a diverse range of original programming, including science fiction with Pluribus and suspenseful spy stories like Slow Horses, as well as international television series.
The Israeli spy thriller Tehran is currently gaining a lot of attention thanks to its newest season. The show, which originally premiered on Kan 11 in 2020, centers around Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad agent embarking on her first mission to Tehran, where she has family roots. The series is topping charts in 68 countries, including Canada, the UK, Australia, Ireland, Poland, and New Zealand. It’s also the second most popular show in the United States and Israel.

The show began airing in Israel on Kan 11 on December 9, 2025, which explains why it hasn’t gained as much traction on Apple TV within Israel compared to other countries. In season 3, Tamar is on the run from both Israeli and Iranian intelligence agencies following Milad’s death at the end of the previous season. Joining the cast is Laurie, playing Eric Peterson, a nuclear inspector from South Africa.
Viewers and critics have also given Tehran very positive reviews. Although Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t have a score specifically for season 3, the show generally receives an 88% rating from critics and an 87% rating from audiences. What sets this spy thriller apart is its use of multiple languages—scenes feature dialogue in English, Hebrew, and Persian.
With only the first episode available on Apple TV internationally, Tehran is already proving to be a hit with viewers around the world.
