As a seasoned gamer with a knack for psychological thrillers and a soft spot for gripping narratives, I must say the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Before” has piqued my interest significantly. With a stellar cast that includes Billy Crystal, Emmy and Tony Award winner Judith Light, and other esteemed actors, it’s shaping up to be a suspenseful ride.
In the teaser for the forthcoming psychological thriller series titled “Before“, which is set to debut in late October, exclusively on Apple TV+, Billy Crystal is tormented by his deceased wife, portrayed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Judith Light.
The upcoming Apple TV+ series has kept most of its storyline under wraps, but it boasts an impressive ensemble cast. In addition to Crystal and Light, the show includes Emmy-nominated actress Rosie Perez, Tony Award nominee Maria Dizzia, Jacobi Jupe, and Ava Lalezarzadeh.
The movie Before primarily revolves around the character of Crystal’s named Eli, a child psychiatrist. Following the death of his wife, Lynn (Light), Eli encounters a distressed boy named Noah (Jupe). It seems that Noah and Eli share an unusual bond, which becomes more profound as they spend more time together, hinted at in the trailer.
The preview hints at a past where Noah lived in foster care with Perez’s character, struggling with anger problems. He’s been kicked out of several schools due to his behavior, experiences hallucinations, and finds himself repeatedly sketching images of an old farmhouse. Eli is eager to uncover the secrets hidden within that house.
One chilling clip has Eli and Noah facing one another as Eli asks Noah what makes him mad. “People who do bad things.” And then he follows that up with, “You know what you did.” Uh-oh. There’s a subtle implication throughout the trailer that Eli might have had something to do with his wife’s death, though that could easily be a misdirect to keep viewers on their toes.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the show I’m about to delve into, titled “Before,” was brought to life by Paramount Television Studios. The mastermind behind this production is Sarah Thorp, who not only serves as the showrunner but also pens the scripts and acts as an executive producer. Crystal is another executive producer on this project, joining forces with Eric Roth, Adam Bernstein, and Jet Wilkinson in their roles as executive producers.
The ten-episode television show is being categorized as a “character-focused” production. Fresh episodes are set to be released every Friday up until December 20th, exclusively on Apple TV+. On its debut day, which is October 25th, viewers will have the chance to watch the first two episodes of the series.
