The sci-fi horror movie *Apollo 18*, which features an up-and-coming actor, is coming to Hulu. Many consider it a hidden gem in the genre.
Starting November 10th, you’ll be able to watch the 2011 film *Apollo 18* on Hulu. The movie, directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego and written by Brian Miller, stars Warren Christie as Captain Benjamin Anderson, a Lunar Module Pilot.
I’m really excited about the cast of this movie! Lloyd Owens plays Commander Nate Walker, and Ryan Robbins is Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Grey, the Command Module Pilot. Plus, you’ll see Andrew Airlie as Thomas Young, the Capsule Communicator, and Michael Kopsa has a role as a Deputy Secretary of Defense. It’s a great group of actors!
As the title suggests, *Apollo 18* presents a story where the canceled Apollo 18 mission actually happened. However, upon landing on the Moon, the astronauts encounter terrifying and unexplained events. The film was released in theaters on September 2, 2011, but received generally negative feedback from both critics and viewers.
Despite making a significant profit – over $26.2 million at the box office on a $5 million budget – the film *Apollo 18* didn’t leave a lasting impression. Critics often compared it unfavorably to found-footage horror films like *Paranormal Activity* and *The Blair Witch Project*.
Currently, critics give the film a 24% rating, based on 75 reviews. Interestingly, that’s slightly higher than the 23% score given by viewers, based on over 25,000 ratings.
Apollo 18’s Lloyd Owens Appears in Rings of Power
I was so excited to see Lloyd Owen as Elendil in *The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power* when it came out in 2022. He plays this really important figure – basically, he’s the son of Amandil, one of the survivors of the destruction of Númenor. After escaping the flood, he becomes the Lord of Andúnië and leads the people who still believe in the Valar. He’s a crucial character for understanding the whole story of Middle-earth, and Owen really brings him to life.
In the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, including *The Lord of the Rings* and *The Silmarillion*, the character Elendil played a key role in forging the final alliance between humans and Elves. Fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming series, which is now expected to premiere on Prime Video around 2027, following some setbacks in its production.
Apollo 18 will be available for streaming on Hulu beginning Nov. 10.
