APEKS relegated from VCT EMEA after losing all matches since Kickoff

If they don’t manage to reach the necessary performance levels, APEKS won’t be joining the VCT EMEA main league in 2026.

APEKS qualified for the VCT EMEA main league by winning the 2024 EMEA Ascension tournament. But since the start of the Kickoff Stage, they haven’t won a single game, which is below the league’s required performance level, leading to their relegation.

APEKS leaves VCT EMEA

2026 sees APEKS stepping down from the VCT EMEA main league. Their defeat by Movistar KOI on August 6th wasn’t enough to meet the league’s performance standards, marking their 11th straight loss in the VCT since they entered the main tournament at the Kickoff stage in January (excluding the two losses during the Esports World Cup). As a result, this Norwegian organization will return to the lower-tier competition, known as the Challengers.

Since the team’s arrival at the VCT EMEA main tournament, there have been several shifts in the lineup. Notably, one of the team’s standout players, Ava “florescent” Eugene, temporarily stepped away from VALORANT in April. Prior to this, Tautvydas “hype” Paldavicius was moved to the inactive roster. In the recent season, they brought in three new members for the main squad: Mehmet “batujnax” Batu Özaslan, Diogo “OLIZERA” Oliveira, and Erik “penny”.

APEKS x KOI

Initially, APEKS demonstrated a powerful start, winning the initial map by a score of 13-9, with impressive displays from OLIZERA and penny. This performance sparked optimism for a long-awaited triumph. However, as expectations soared, so did the potential for disappointment, and unfortunately for APEKS, their momentum didn’t sustain throughout the match.

In the second game, KOI decisively beat APEKS with a score of 13-4, largely thanks to an exceptional display from nataNk. The final game initially seemed hopeful for APEKS, but it was too late; their defeat was inevitable, and they struggled to recover. As a result, APEKS will face FNATIC in their last match on August 14, 2025, following this loss.
