Anything for Jackson director Justin Dyck to direct sci-fi horror film William

As a seasoned gamer and horror enthusiast with over two decades of immersing myself in various digital nightmares, I can confidently say that the upcoming sci-fi horror film “William” has piqued my interest like no other. The blend of AI and haunted house tropes is an intriguing twist on the traditional horror formula, and having a director like Justin Dyck at the helm only adds to the anticipation.

Renowned Canadian film director Justin Dyck, well-acknowledged for directing the critically praised supernatural horror film “Anything for Jackson“, has announced his upcoming horror venture titled “William“. Here’s what we currently know about this new project.

The movie titled “William” is being categorized as a science fiction-horror production. It’s an adaptation of the horror novel with the same name by popular author Andrew Pyper (pen name Mason Coile), which was acquired by Aperture Entertainment. The book hit the shelves in September and can now be bought on Amazon, either as a hardcover or eBook, at varying prices.

Director Dyck has been confirmed for the upcoming movie adaptation of “William”. Right now, he’s also busy working on another horror film titled “The Casket Girls”, which stars Gabrielle Union. Collaboratively with Chris Sivertson (known for “Monstrous” and “All Cheerleaders Die”), Pyper is penning the screenplay for “William”. The primary shooting of this movie will take place in Canada, though a specific start date hasn’t been announced yet.

The roles for this project haven’t been filled with actors yet, either. What has been revealed is an intriguing blend of the films “Ex Machina” and “The Amityville Horror.” This unique amalgamation features a house that isn’t inhabited by ghostly spirits but instead, it’s the dwelling place of artificial intelligence.

Here’s the book’s official synopsis via Amazon:

Henry is a brilliant engineer who, after untold hours spent in his home lab, has achieved the breakthrough of his career—he’s created an artificially intelligent consciousness. He calls the half-formed robot William.

No one knows about William. Henry’s agoraphobia keeps him inside the house, and his fixation on his project keeps him up in the attic, away from everyone, including his pregnant wife, Lily.

When Lily’s coworkers show up, wanting to finally meet Henry and see the new house—the smartest of smart homes—Henry decides to introduce them to William, and things go from strange to much worse. Soon Henry and Lily discover the security upgrades intended to keep danger out of the house are even better at locking it in.

So far, not much has been disclosed about William, but as additional details surface, we’ll make sure to update you with all the findings. In the meantime, consider watching “Anything for Jackson” on Shudder if you haven’t done so yet.
