Anya Taylor-Joy’s “inventive” sci-fi-thriller The Gorge sets an impressive new streaming record
It’s worth noting that the science fiction thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy, titled “The Gorge“, has shattered records in viewership on Apple TV+.
Last week saw the debut of the movie on the streaming platform, and it has since broken all previous records for their largest movie premiere, as reported by Deadline.
According to the report, the movie seems to have attracted an 80% increase in new viewers, although the exact viewer count hasn’t been officially verified yet.

The film, labeled as “innovative” by Variety, features the actor from Mad Max: Fury Road (Furiosa) and Miles Teller of Whiplash fame, portraying two sharpshooters assigned to protect a secretive ravine.
The movie has received a 64% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. _Empire_ magazine praised it as a “frothy B-movie stew,” while _The Guardian_ noted that it exhibits “touches of above-average streaming quality,” setting it apart from typical Netflix productions.

The latest update follows Apple setting yet another record, as Season 2 of Severance has just been their most-viewed premiere to date on their streaming platform.
The current television series on Apple TV+ has broken all previous records, attracting a larger audience than any other program and resulting in a staggering 126% surge in new subscriptions during the initial weeks of January.
