Anya Taylor-Joy cuts a glamorous figure in black dress as she joins and Jenna Ortega at the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival

Anya Taylor-Joy and Jenna Ortega both wore stylish black outfits at the Jury Press Conference during the second day of the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival on Saturday.

Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her role in The Queen’s Gambit, looked stunning in a fitted dress with a square neckline.

Adding inches to her statuesque frame, Anya completed her ensemble with strappy black heels.

Jenna, the 23-year-old actress from Wednesday, wore a black lace bodysuit with a black blazer over it.

She paired her jacket with loose-fitting, satin black trousers and some black laced combat boots.  

This follows reactions to Jenna’s seemingly unhappy and let-down expression at a press event earlier this month.

The actress celebrated with her co-stars and the show’s creators at a For Your Consideration event hosted by Netflix Tudum in Los Angeles on November 9, including her on-screen parents Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán.

Jenna briefly looked disheartened when Alfred Gough, the writer, executive producer, and creator of the show, complimented her work on the second season.

During his speech, Gough referenced an episode in which Jenna and Emma Myers swapped bodies.

A video from the film blog Rama’s Screen is circulating online, featuring a comment about a recent episode. The speaker praised the actresses, noting how well they supported each other both in the body swap episode itself and on set during filming, calling the episode remarkable.

Jenna was consistently amazing all season, so I want to acknowledge her achievements, even though she doesn’t highlight them herself.

When Gough made his comment, earning applause from the crowd, Jenna deliberately moved out of his line of sight.

Instead, she faced in a different direction while resting her chin on her fist.

Once he finished praising her, Jenna changed the subject and began to thank the team from Wednesday.

‘Actually, I’m very proud of the Irish crew stepping in,’ she said.

Honestly, people have no idea how hard it is! I don’t do the physical work, thankfully – I don’t haul gear or load trucks – but just being around Tim and seeing how quickly things change… it’s insane! He’ll say he wants something, and then two minutes later it’s something else entirely. It’s not just ‘making a movie,’ it’s a constant scramble, and it’s way harder than anyone realizes. I’m just a fan watching from the sidelines, but even I can see that!

I’ve been following the buzz online, and after a short video went viral, people started wondering if there was some tension between the actress and the director. It really got everyone talking and speculating about a possible disagreement!

On X, formerly Twitter, a user praised Jenna, saying she’s passionate about her job and dedicated to giving her all.

It’s really upsetting to see her so down. She’s clearly frustrated and disappointed with how those people have been acting, and frankly, I understand why.

Someone else noticed similar behavior, pointing out his slight head shake when discussing her and Emma, his avoidance of eye contact, and how quickly he praised the crew, seemingly to deflect from what he’d just said.

‘I know she still has a bit of respect for them but the reaction still says a lot.’

They also mentioned they don’t believe she’s intentionally trying to express her feelings. It seems more like an involuntary reaction to being incredibly frustrated.

Someone else noticed her body language clearly showed disapproval – she turned away, didn’t make eye contact, and didn’t applaud. It was obvious she wasn’t impressed.

Honestly, watching that interaction was tough. He was showering her with compliments – really laying it on thick, even including praise for Emma – and she completely ignored him. No thank you, no applause, nothing. Instead, she directed all her gratitude towards the Irish crew. It was clear she’d completely checked out – a real communication breakdown, in my opinion.
