Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller are elite snipers guarding a sinister secret in The Gorge
As a long-time aficionado of both romance and horror genres, I must say that the upcoming Apple TV+ release, “The Gorge,” has piqued my interest in a most intriguing way. With Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller at the helm, under the watchful eye of director Scott Derrickson, this romantic action thriller is sure to deliver a chilling tale that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller are joining forces for an exhilarating romantic action thriller titled “The Gorge“, coming to Apple TV+ on Valentine’s Day 2025. However, you might be wondering why a horror enthusiast like me is discussing a romance. Well, after watching the chilling official trailer for this movie, it’s clear that there’s an ominous and sinister undertone lurking at its core.
The trailer presents the primary characters, Levi (Teller) and Drasa (Taylor-Johnson), who are top-tier snipers tasked with safeguarding a baffling, invulnerable chasm. It’s rumored that whatever lies beneath it houses one of the world’s deadliest mysteries. One can only wonder what could be so perilous? The answer appears to be that at the base of this seemingly endless pit is an entrance to the underworld, as hinted by the unsettling visuals displayed in the trailer.
It’s only natural that the horror film, titled The Gorge, is helmed by renowned director Scott Derrickson, who has made a name for himself with movies such as The Black Phone, Sinister, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Zach Dean, known for his work on The Tomorrow War, is the one who penned the script.
Initially, we encounter Drasa, played by Taylor-Johnson, who assumes the role of an assassin embarking on a clandestine mission in a secret locale. For a full year, she finds herself plunged into darkness regarding her assignment. Paralleling this, Teller’s character is a sniper taking directives from Sigourney Weaver’s character, Bartholomew, without disclosure of the specifics.
For an entire year, Drasa and Levi will be stationed at two distinct towers, situated on opposite sides of a deep chasm. They have no access to external communication, and their superiors strictly forbid any interaction between them. Their task is straightforward: prevent anything from crossing over the chasm. It’s later disclosed that they are positioned at the entrance to a portal leading to Hell.
Regarding the ominous backdrop of The Gorge, it appears that beneath its somber facade lies a delightfully tender core, as suggested by the trailer which hints at a gradual blossoming romance between its principal characters. This duo communicates in unorthodox ways such as messages on posterboards and strategically fired gunshots, while simultaneously striving to discover the secrets buried within their surroundings.
The Gorge will start streaming exclusively on Apple TV+ beginning on February 14, 2025.
