Anton Du Beke discusses his ‘awful’ Strictly partners after showing his support for Giovanni Pernice amid misconduct scandal
As an ardent fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say that Anton Du Beke has been through it all! His tales from the dance floor are as captivating as his moves. The way he gracefully navigates the challenges that come with partnering with a diverse group of celebrities is nothing short of remarkable.
Anton Du Beke has spoken candidly about the challenging nature of some past dance partners on Strictly Come Dancing, expressing his sympathy for Giovanni Pernice as he navigates a recent misconduct allegation.
The experienced dancer and critic, aged 58, was teamed up with famous personalities like Ruth Langsford, Ann Widdecombe, Lesley Joseph, and Esther Rantzen.
Anton found himself embroiled in a controversy following allegations that he expressed disapproval, and his actions towards his past dance partner Laila Rouass were perceived as outdated, reminiscent of the 1970s.
Currently, he maintains that his Strictly dance studio was never overheated – primarily because he often partnered with older women who were consistently poor dancers.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I would delicately express that, while many possess remarkable talent, they seem to be beyond the age of 25. Later on, I might add with candor that, although their performances can be impressive, watching them dance sometimes feels more like cringeworthy spectacle than artistry.
Anton shared additional details about his celebrity partners at the event, which is supported by The Times and The Sunday Times: “They are amazing, captivating, outstanding, talented, amusing, insightful ladies whom I had a fantastic time with; however, things are as they are.
He told one of his associates, “Can you be adaptable?” The associate replied, “I am, but I can’t manage on Tuesdays.” He further explained that all he expected was for them to ‘give it their best shot’. That’s about the most one can ask.
Anton appeared unfazed following the news that he was implicated in the ‘misconduct investigation’ as one of the fourth individuals back in the beginning of the year.
In the 2009 competition, he made Laila, a contestant with both Indian and Moroccan heritage, cry by humorously remarking that she resembled a poodle following a spray tan. This remark has recently been brought up again.
Anton expressed regret to Laila immediately and acknowledged that he felt both foolish and ashamed about his remarks to the actress. They eventually reconciled a couple of weeks afterwards.
Following Anton’s display of backing for Giovanni, there was a sense of ‘ease’ as he was exonerated from most accusations leveled against him by his ex-partner, actress Amanda Abbington.
After a half-year investigation of the star currently appearing on the Italian adaptation of the program, concluded on Monday, Giovanni expressed his wish to leave the challenging year that has passed in the past.
In a video posted on Instagram, Giovanni expressed his joy after discovering that none of the ‘grave accusations’ had been proven true.
He added: ‘I’m happy because today I can carry on to do what I was born to do, and I love to do which is entertain all of you, because this is my life.’
Below the post, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse expressed their appreciation by liking it, whereas Craig Revel Horwood responded with a heart emoji.
While Fern Britton interviewed Anton at the festival, she mentioned that her encounter with professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev in 2012 differed from Anton’s experience.
When Artem discovered they were paired together he ‘swept me up as if he was absolutely thrilled’.
After the pleasant exchange, she discovered him seated on the stairs and asked, “Is everything okay with this situation?” To which he replied, “I’m accustomed to someone younger who can dance well.
She responded: ‘Well, when I’m drunk I dance really well.’ That is how it started and sometimes it was fine and sometimes it wasn’t.’
Fern previously revealed she was ‘kicked and shoved’ during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.
In an old interview dating back to 2015, the 67-year-old host expressed these opinions regarding her professional dance partner, Artem.
At an occasion organized by The Times newspaper, Fern, who was the fifth competitor ousted during the 2012 season of the BBC program, expressed that Artem would often nudge or push her when looking at her feet.
She recalled him allegedly saying: ‘You just stand there and don’t move; I dance round you.’
About a month ago, Artem publicly accused his former spouse, Nikki Garcia, of instances of domestic abuse, following her filing to dissolve their two-year union.
Previously featured contestant on Dancing with the Stars, aged 40, asserts that the ex-WWE wrestler, likewise 40 years old, acted as the instigator during their recent domestic altercation, resulting in his apprehension on August 29.
In the photos presented to the Superior Court of California, Chigvintsev displayed injuries such as cuts and scrapes on his elbows, hands, and at the back of his ear, which he claims were caused by Garcia.
