Actor Anthony Head shared that his partner of 30 years, Sarah Fisher, jokingly turned down his marriage proposals for decades before sadly passing away this week at the age of 61.
Buffy actress Kristine Marinelli, age 71, passed away on New Year’s Day. Her daughters, Emily and Daisy, shared the news, describing their mother as an extraordinary, kind, and talented woman.
Anthony shared that Sarah, even after many years as a couple, wasn’t interested in getting married and would firmly reject his proposals, even using harsh language.
Even so, he confessed he still felt married and couldn’t picture his life without his partner – a heartbreaking statement made years before she passed away.
In 2018, he reported that she had explicitly rejected the idea of marriage, responding with harsh language and then leaving abruptly, seemingly upset.
‘I just can’t imagine my life without Sarah. And I definitely wouldn’t want to’.
In his interview with The Telegraph, Anthony also commended his partner for taking full responsibility for their daughters in the UK while he pursued opportunities in the US.
Anthony admitted that being separated from his family was very challenging, but Sarah’s support ultimately gave him the confidence to secure his famous role as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
When I first moved, I was out of work and often found myself calling home, upset and wanting to give up. But Sarah encouraged me to stay and try acting classes, which is what I ended up doing.
Emily, age 37, became well-known for her role as Carli in The Inbetweeners, and her sister Daisy, 34, has appeared in shows like Guilt, Harlots, and The Syndicate.
The sisters shared in their tribute that the news was a complete shock, happening very suddenly. They said no words could ever truly capture everything their loved one meant to them, or express how deeply she will be missed.
We are deeply proud of the incredible impact she had on so many lives and the lasting legacy she created. It’s with great sadness that we acknowledge her time with us was cut short, and we wish she could have shared even more of her wisdom and talent with the world.
‘Our grief knows no bounds, nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit.’
They did not reveal any further details about her death.
Sarah had a long-standing relationship with Battersea Cats and Dogs Home in London, and the organization publicly acknowledged her on Thursday.
We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of our dear friend and Ambassador Sarah Fisher. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her partner, Anthony, her daughters, and all who knew and loved her.
Sarah and her partner, Anthony Head, were incredibly generous to our charity. Sarah used her knowledge of dog behavior to help train our team and volunteers, and together they fostered dogs, making a significant impact on animal welfare.

Anthony first became well-known in the UK during the 1980s for appearing in the popular Nescafé Gold Blend TV commercials. He was mainly a musical theatre performer at the time, and the ads helped him land significant roles in several TV shows.
Anthony Stewart Head is most famous for playing Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Prime Minister in Little Britain, and Uther Pendragon in Merlin.
He recently appeared as Rupert Mannion in the TV series Ted Lasso (2020–2023) and provided the voice of Herc Shipwright on BBC Radio 4’s Cabin Pressure.
Sarah was also patron of Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Somerset for many years.
After Sarah’s passing, her founder, Pauline Leeson, shared that Sarah was a passionate champion for all animals, always speaking up for those who couldn’t speak for themselves.
Her dedication to animals was immense, and she will be deeply missed by all creatures great and small. She worked tirelessly to help them adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Everyone at Holly Hedge is deeply saddened by the loss of Sarah. She will be remembered for the positive impact she had and the good she brought to so many lives.
