Anthea Turner's sister Wendy reveals she offered to donate her eggs during star's fertility battle as they reflect on four-year sibling fallout

Oh, dear Anthea and Wendy! Two sisters bound by blood, yet torn apart by life’s unrelenting storm. I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for these two remarkable women who have weathered their own personal hurricanes.

Anthea Turner’s sister, Wendy, disclosed that she initially volunteered to donate her eggs when Anthea was facing fertility issues. However, after a disagreement, they didn’t communicate for four years.

During their disagreement, the 64-year-old TV host had recently separated from Grant Bovey in 2013 due to his infidelity and fertility issues, much like the 57-year-old journalist was experiencing troubles in her marriage with Gary Webster at around the same time.

In an article co-written for The Sunday Times, the sisters shared that their personal struggles stemming from past traumas made it difficult for them to support each other effectively.

Wendy reminisced: “When Grant parted from her for the final time, his assistant contacted me, saying, ‘Could you come over? Anthea is in pain.’ There were numerous instances of such occurrences. Discussing everything, enjoying a couple of Gin and Tonics, and venting at the world.”

It was very sad: She’d undergone numerous IVF treatments, and at some stage, we had discussed the possibility of me donating my eggs.

Anthea remarked: “Wendy and I weren’t constantly together, but still, it was challenging when we didn’t communicate for a couple of years. At the time, I had recently gone through a divorce. My relationship with Grant was my sole focus, and his departure took me by surprise.”

‘Wendy and Gary were having problems but it was their life and there was only so much I could do. ‘

Previously known Blue Peter star asserted that currently, her sister and brother-in-law have a strong bond, which she described as ‘rock-solid.’ She went on to share that the reason behind their reconciliation was due to their mother’s deteriorating health.

In 2022, the duo sadly parted ways with their mom, Jean. Before then, Anthea and Wendy had reconnected, but the former GMTV host firmly stated that they would not talk about their past disagreement.

These days, Anthea frequently chats with her stepdaughters Claudia (age 27), Amelia (age 29), and Lily (age 30), as well as her sister, almost every two days.

Resuming their conversation, the sisters discovered they could continue as if no time had passed, such was the bond of familial love.

The sisters spoke about their feud during an appearance on This Morning in June.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the captivating dynamic between you two. It’s truly fascinating to see that despite your deep-rooted bond and sisterhood, there was a significant rift in your relationship.

Host Ben Shepherd posed, “Today’s call-in is focused on family conflicts, and I believe one of the topics they’re curious about is how to mend a split within a family?”

In reference to their revitalized bond, Wendy reminisced, “Indeed, our mother’s illness and subsequent passing served as a unifying force for us. With our father needing support, we found ourselves drawing closer.”

‘It’s really difficult because it just kind of happened.’

Anthea then gave advice to anyone else in a similar situation.

‘She suggested that it’s best not to dwell on the matter, as sometimes things are better left unsaid. As sisters, we discussed our shared experiences there, and for whatever reason, you two may reconcile.’

And Wendy added: ‘We never dissected what went wrong or what went right.’
