Anthea Turner has opened up on being labelled a ‘homewrecker’ after falling for a married man.
The TV presenter, 65, left her husband, former Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell, in 1998 for property developer Grant Bovey, who at the time was married with three young children.
Grant, a friend of Peter, left his wife Della and their daughters, then aged two, four, and seven.
What seemed like dramatic entertainment for onlookers was actually a very difficult time for the people directly affected.
She was publicly accused of destroying a marriage, and faced intense scrutiny from the media, including constant paparazzi and harsh criticism.
In a recent interview, she revisited that period of her life and said the media depicted her as awful.

Anthea explained to The Telegraph that she was being honest about an affair because she believes people often lie when they say a breakup is due to issues within the relationship and not the involvement of another person.
I had a lawyer friend release a statement to prevent further investigation and potential discovery of information I wanted to keep private.
‘I look back on it all now, it was a series of unfortunate events.’
Anthea went on to be with Grant and they were married for 15 years.
The couple initially separated in 2012, attempted a brief reconciliation, but ultimately split again in 2013. Their divorce was finalized in 2015, citing his infidelity.
Their marriage ended when she found out Grant, who was 52 at the time, was having an affair with interior designer Zoe de Mallet Morgan.
She made this discovery only a few months after she’d forgiven him for being unfaithful.
You know, people always ask me about my marriage to Grant, and honestly, even though he was unfaithful, I don’t have any regrets. Looking back, it was a chapter in my life that shaped who I am today, and I’ve learned so much from the experience. I truly believe everything happens for a reason, and I wouldn’t change my past, even the difficult parts.

In a 2023 interview with Richard Eden of the Daily Mail, she shared that she focuses on the positive aspects of her marriage and always looks for the good that came from it.
Those burdened by past regrets and self-blame often struggle to move forward in life.
‘I move on, I’m not a natural dweller, and I think it is a female sense of survival.’
The presenter shared that she wrote a heartfelt letter to her husband, Grant, explaining how the changes she was experiencing during menopause had affected her behavior. She didn’t realize at the time that he was already having an affair with someone much younger – a 24-year-old woman.
Anthea found it difficult to talk properly with her ex because of work, so she started writing down her thoughts and feelings instead.
Today, Anthea is engaged to millionaire Mark Armstrong, having found love again after a previous relationship. They became engaged in 2019.
She shared with HELLO! that she had a feeling he was going to propose, recalling the moment during their romantic getaway to Italy. She added that things moved quickly – they were engaged just months after they first met.
As you get older, things often happen faster because you just *know* when the time is right, and there’s no need to waste time on indecision.
