Anthea Turner, 65, reveals why she STILL hasn’t married millionaire fiancé Mark Armstrong as she brings up THAT infamous Flake Gate on Vanessa Feltz’s show

Anthea Turner explained on Channel 5’s Vanessa Feltz show why she and her wealthy fiancé haven’t tied the knot yet, referencing the controversy surrounding her previous wedding – often called ‘Flake Gate’.

The 65-year-old TV personality got engaged to Mark Armstrong in September 2019 after a quick two-month courtship. However, she now envisions a more intimate wedding, as large, extravagant celebrations are becoming less popular.

Anthea was once married to property developer Grant Bovey, now 64. Their extravagant wedding in 2000 caused some criticism when the couple appeared in a promotional photo eating Cadbury’s Snowflake bars.

She thought back to her lavish wedding while the group talked about whether or not spending a lot of money on weddings is really worthwhile.

Looking back, it was far too extravagant. I remember thinking at the time that it just wasn’t me, and that I didn’t want something so over the top – it wasn’t at all what I had in mind.

I was kind of tricked into getting involved, and things quickly spiraled out of control. It all ended when someone shoved a chocolate bar in my face.

I also feel like there’s been a shift in how we view extravagant weddings. They used to be admired, but now they often feel…excessive. It’s similar to how people react to flashy cars – there’s a sense that showing off like that is becoming less appealing.

Anthea recently shared her happiness about finding love again with her fiancé, especially after experiencing two previous divorces. She also happily announced she’s now a grandmother, as her stepdaughter recently had a baby.

Anthea was first married to radio personality Peter Powell, but their marriage ended in 1998 when she began a relationship with property developer Grant Bovey. They later married in 2000 and remained together for fifteen years, divorcing in 2015.

Anthea mentioned in a past interview that she and Mark are planning to get married next year, and she remains optimistic about marriage.

She shared her excitement about her wedding, saying she feels lucky to have found love and a family again, and she’s really enjoying this new chapter in her life.

When asked if romance in your sixties is more about friendship than passion, she strongly disagreed, saying that wasn’t her experience at all.

I was so glad to hear her talking about this openly! She shared with The Sunday Times that while desire can dip during menopause, it definitely doesn’t disappear. She’s a big advocate for HRT – she called herself a ‘fully paid-up member’ of the club, and honestly, who can relate more? She also said that finding a new connection can really reignite everything, which is so true and refreshing to hear!

She’s still very close to her ex-partner Grant’s children, and she recently shared some happy news: his daughter, Claudia, just had a baby! She excitedly announced that she’s now a grandmother, calling herself ‘Granny Anth’ and saying she couldn’t be more thrilled.

It comes after Anthea recently opened up on being labelled a ‘homewrecker’ after falling for Grant.

She left Peter in 1998 for Grant – who at the time was married with three young children.

Grant, a friend of Peter, left his wife Della and their daughters, then aged two, four, and seven.

What seemed like dramatic entertainment for onlookers was actually a very difficult time for the people directly affected.

She was publicly labeled as someone who destroyed a home, and she recently discussed that period of her life in an interview last October.

Anthea explained to The Telegraph that she was honest about an affair because she believes people often lie when they say a breakup is due to issues between the two people involved – there’s usually someone else.

I had a lawyer friend release a statement to prevent further investigation and potential discovery of damaging information.

‘I look back on it all now, it was a series of unfortunate events.’

Anthea went on to be with Grant and they were married for 15 years.

The couple initially separated in 2012, attempted a brief reconciliation, but ultimately separated again in 2013. Their divorce was finalized in 2015, citing his infidelity as the reason.

Their marriage ended when she found out Grant, who was 52 at the time, was having an affair with interior designer Zoe de Mallet Morgan.

She made this discovery only a few months after she’d decided to forgive him for a past mistake involving another woman.
