On their latest podcast, Ant McPartlin shocked his friend Declan Donnelly by announcing he’s going to try and break the world record for fastest banana eating.
Dec, a huge fan of the Guinness Book of Records, was shocked and amused to find out his friend Ant would be attempting a speed-eating challenge right then and there, with an official judge present.
A new clip from Ant & Dec’s show, “Hanging Out With Ant & Dec,” shows the pair looking comfortable and happy as a Guinness World Records official explained the challenge to them. The clip will be released on Monday.
He explained that the current record for banana eating is eight bananas in a minute, and he needed to see the eater’s mouth after each one to confirm it was actually eaten.
Ant jokingly compared the situation to being on the reality show ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ and Dec laughed so hard he had to crane his neck while arranging the fruit.
Ant started to get anxious when he realized he had to eat so many bananas in such a short time. He said he was sweating and felt like his throat was closing up.
I’m absolutely on the edge of my seat wondering if he’ll smash the World Record! We all need to listen to the podcast on Monday, February 2nd to find out what happens – I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
Ant and Dec recently started a podcast, releasing new episodes every Thursday. They’re also dropping bonus ‘Mystery Door’ episodes on Mondays.
This news follows reports that the duo considered leaving Britain’s Got Talent due to several disagreements behind the scenes, including Simon Cowell’s habit of consistently arriving late.
The judges – Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI – are back for the nineteenth season of the show, which begins in February. They’ll be traveling across the country to discover the next big stars.
Things could have ended badly for the show’s hosts if their crucial talks with Simon Cowell hadn’t gone well. They’d become frustrated with having less to do on the show in 2012, and those discussions were a turning point.
On the latest episode of Stick To Football, the two guests revealed they traveled to the United States to meet with a judge who was consistently late and unreliable at the time.
Ant described him as a genuinely likeable and funny guy. They have a good rapport because they’re always honest with each other, and he seems to value that openness. He’s also very generous.
Dec explained that they’d had some disagreements with him in the past. They even flew to Los Angeles to tell him they were quitting Britain’s Got Talent because they weren’t enjoying the experience.
We found ourselves with smaller and smaller roles in the show, and it was taking up too much of our time. Since we weren’t really involved anymore, we decided it was best to leave and focus our efforts on other things.
He responded by saying he wouldn’t let me leave, that he’d be punctual going forward, and that he’d ensure I had more opportunities and enjoyed the experience more.
We were having lunch when he suddenly expressed disbelief that I’d considered leaving. He leaned across the table, right there in the restaurant in Los Angeles, and started tickling me, playfully insisting I would never leave his side.
The pair previously discussed their 2020 meeting with Cowell in their autobiography, ‘Once Upon A Tyne’.
Ant remembered they confronted him directly. They explained they weren’t willing to be taken advantage of, that they had other options, and suggested someone else might be better suited for the job.
To be fair to Simon, he patiently sat through it all, listening carefully while smoking four or five cigarettes.
Donnelly explained that he’d been promised things would improve and that they wouldn’t experience that feeling again.
He really wanted us to continue working with him, and we promised to consider it after the current project. He kept his promise, and things did improve as a result.
Find out if he breaks the world record by listening to the podcast on Monday! The episode will be available on the Belta Box YouTube channel from 8am, wherever you get your podcasts.
The latest episode of ‘Hanging Out With Ant & Dec,’ titled ‘Mystery Door,’ will be released on all podcast platforms starting Monday, February 2nd.
