Ant and Dec ‘slam Jane Moore off-screen’ for her ‘unfair’ reaction towards I’m A Celebrity campmates after she was put on washing up duty
As a seasoned observer of human behavior and dynamics, I find myself quite perplexed by the turn of events in this particular episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Jane’s reaction to being assigned dish-washing duties seems to me like a case study in entitlement and misplaced priorities.
In a supposed off-screen conversation, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly allegedly criticized Jane Moore for what they considered an unfair criticism directed at Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan in the previous episode of I’m A Celebrity.
The host of Loose Women, who is 62 years old, didn’t hesitate to voice her opinions when she was assigned a fresh task after the camp underwent a reshuffle.
In this installment, the leadership of the camp shifted following a popular decision, granting authority over the participants to Danny and Barry through a public ballot.
But the new order didn’t go down well with the journalist who branded the pair sexist and ageist.
As reported by The Mirror, when considering the statement, Ant expressed his viewpoint as follows: ‘I believe she might be going a bit too far by labeling it as both sexist and ageist. In my opinion, they were simply attempting to distribute resources equitably.’
Dec responded affirmatively, saying, “Yes, I concur. I empathize with Barry, as he was just trying to do what’s right,” and then Ant sympathized, saying, “I feel sorry for poor Barry.
As per the source, Ant earlier expressed his viewpoint that it’s beneficial to maintain a mild level of friction or tension.
He mentioned that he wasn’t surprised by the confrontation since it appears that the events often center around tasks and who is assigned to complete them.
TopMob has contacted representatives for Ant and Dec for comment.
On Friday, the McFly vocalist and the ex-boxer, assuming leadership roles, departed jointly to determine tasks related to chores within the camp.
Following some discussion, the duo concluded that Jane, among others, would handle dish-washing duties together with Tulisa. However, upon receiving this assignment, Jane protested, suggesting that they had assigned her this task merely due to her gender.
Earlier in the episode the two went off together to draw up plans.
Danny said: ‘Shall we talk chefs first, obviously me and Melvin can’t do that.’
Barry then added: ‘Wood duty needs to be somebody who’s strong and has good stamina.
Afterward, Danny proposed that it’s time for Jane to handle the dishes and added, “It seems like it might be a bit biased towards men with the more physically demanding tasks, don’t you think?
However, Barry swiftly dismissed the idea, countering with: “That’s a reasonable point, but I’m not sure they’d appreciate it by the end of a few days.
Later, Danny admitted that his actions were aimed at arranging matters in a way that would provide the camp with the optimal chance to flourish.
The pair then went back to the eager campmates and began revealing who had what task.
Initially, they assigned cleaning tasks, and it was mentioned that Jane and Tulisa would supervise this chore at the campsite. Then, when Jane exclaimed surprise, she asked, “Is this task given to us because we’re women?
Barry attempted to defend their choice by pointing out that given Jane’s age (being 62) and her being a year younger than himself, she may prefer activities requiring less exertion. However, before he could complete his thought, Jane quickly responded, “That sounds both ageist and sexist!
In a light-hearted tone, I remarked, “We’re off to a great start,” and Oti replied, “The air is so thick you could slice it with a knife.
Later, Jane expressed disappointment that she had specifically asked not to be assigned cleaning tasks. She told Danny, “As you passed by, my final words to you were ‘please not cleaning’, yet you’ve still given me cleaning duties.
As Jane persisted in her complaints, Dean initiated a supportive cheer for Jane (“We stand with Jane”), while Barry attempted to ease the tension within the camp, as Jane carried on expressing her concerns.
She said: ‘I’m not upset, I’m just saying it’s women doing the washing up again.’
However, while Dean defended the TV star, social media users showed little approval instead.
Fans of the show took to X to criticise the star’s behaviour and told her to ‘get a grip’.
They wrote: ‘What’s got Jane so triggered it’s not that serious #ImACeleb’
‘Drama in the kitchen with Jane washing up’
‘Shut up and do the dishes Jane!! As you say youve had a go at other chores so what’s your beef’
‘I hope Jane’s dishwasher at home never breaksdown’
‘Get a grip Jane’
Another criticized the celebrity for behaving immaturely, stating: “Is it acceptable for Jane to reply ‘doesn’t matter, done now’ when Danny suggested an alternative course of action? Such a response seems more fitting for a real child.
While another wrote: ‘ Jane get over yourself.. at least you’re not on dunny duty!’
They expressed their regret that they hadn’t supported Jane to face a trial as punishment, stating it like a person lamenting about not choosing Jane for doing chores: “If only I had picked Jane to do the dishes, I’d be acting like a kid right now.
And others said Jane was getting on their nerves.
In all honesty, while some folks were harshly criticizing Jane, I believe there’s merit in acknowledging that Danny had anticipated Jane’s reaction. He was planning to rethink the household chores considering a balanced approach between genders. Unfortunately, he didn’t follow through with his plan.
