In the upcoming series “The Brave and the Bold,” it’s still unclear when Batman from the DC Universe will make an appearance, but one of his infamous adversaries, Clayface, is set to take center stage in a movie slated for release in 2026. Tom Rhys Harries portrays Matt Hagen, the shapeshifting character, in this upcoming DC film. Production on the movie started at the end of August, and recently, information from the set hints that there might be something intriguing about The Joker’s role in the DC Universe, leaving me puzzled about the Clown Prince of Crime‘s position within the DCU.
This past week, a leaked photo from a movie set surfaced featuring the words “The Jokers” spray-painted on a wall, hinting at the possibility of multiple Jokers in the DC Universe or a group named after the notorious villain. However, fresh details have emerged, courtesy of @whitewidow616’s new set photo. The picture shows a poster with a black and white image of several unidentified individuals, and the phrase “Corruption is the ENEMY of the people” written in bold black letters above and below this image. In smaller red text, it reads, “Protest against the G.C.P.D., Park Row, Gotham – This Saturday 2pm – JOIN THE JOKER.” This suggests that the Joker might be rallying people against the G.C.P.D. in Gotham this coming Saturday at 2 pm.
More Clayface Stories

A recently released set photo hints at the appearance of the main character Clayface in the upcoming DC film. This sneak peek has stirred up more excitement within me than I initially anticipated.
As a die-hard fan, I’m absolutely thrilled about the details unveiled by DC Studios regarding Mike Flanagan’s Clayface. This upcoming DC Universe movie is undeniably my most eagerly awaited film in the franchise.
As a die-hard comic book fan, I can’t help but ponder: Could it be that The Joker is steering a political crusade amidst Gotham City’s chaos, all while Clayface stirs things up? Is this twist suggesting that The Joker has suddenly developed an affinity for rooting out systemic corruption within the police force and aiming to reform law enforcement? Frankly, I find it hard to imagine such a drastic shift in character for one of the most notorious murderers in the DC Universe.
After all, we’ve only just recently witnessed Paul Dano’s Riddler taking out corrupt individuals in ‘The Batman’. Introducing The Joker undertaking similar actions in the DCU would feel a bit too familiar and repetitive.
My current assumption leans towards a Gotham faction adopting the Joker’s moniker to further their political objectives. Whether they genuinely aim to aid the city or harbor hidden agendas remains uncertain. Assuming these ‘Jokers’ don’t play a significant role in Matt Hagen’s Clayface story, I doubt we’ll delve too deeply into this. If separate from Joker, it won’t be long before he begins targeting individuals linked to them. However, if they are the same group, it could potentially intertwine with Clayface’s narrative.
Initially, Clayface wasn’t part of the original plans for the DC Universe, but DC Studios co-head James Gunn was captivated by filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s story idea and subsequent script drafts. Later, Hossein Amini was recruited to revise certain parts of the script after Flanagan departed from the project. The feature is being directed by James Watkins. Tom Rhys Harries is joined in the Clayface cast by Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. The story revolves around an aspiring actor named Matt Hagen who, after being disfigured by a criminal, seeks help from a scientist out of desperation, only to have his body transformed into clay.
On September 11, 2026, we can expect to see the release of Clayface. Before that, Supergirl will be shown on June 26, 2026. It’s important to note that The Batman: Part II is scheduled for October 1, 2027, although it doesn’t take place in the DC Universe.
