Great news for fans of Patience! The popular Channel 4 drama has been renewed for a third season, following the success of the second season which aired last month.
The broadcaster announced today that the next season will have 10 episodes. Filming is scheduled to begin in March in both Belgium and York.
In season 3, Ella Maisy Purvis returns as the autistic criminologist, continuing to work alongside the City of York Police. This season, her relationship with DI Frankie Monroe, played by Jessica Hynes, will deepen. After some disagreements in season 2, the two characters will become close colleagues and friends.

In the third series, Patience explores a new romance and also focuses on family. She begins to build a relationship with her long-lost half-sister, Joy, all while trying to uncover the truth about her father’s death. The series asks: was his car crash truly an accident, or was something more sinister at play?
Channel 4 reported that the second season was their most popular show of the year, attracting an average of 4.2 million viewers in its first month across both traditional TV and online streaming.

Channel 4 is excited to bring back Patience for a third season,” said Polly Scates, the channel’s head of acquisitions. “Viewers have really fallen in love with the show, and everyone is eager to follow Patience’s next cases in York.”
Jo McGrath, the creative head at Eagle Eye Drama, shared that viewers worldwide have really connected with Patience, and it’s fantastic to see it doing so well in the UK, currently ranking as the 8th most-watched show across all streaming services halfway through its release.

The success of this series is thanks to our incredible cast, especially Ella Maisy Purvis, and the talented production team led by director Maarten Moerkerke. We’re excited to announce they’re all returning for another thrilling season with ten new episodes.
Viewers will be happy to see familiar faces like Nathan Welsh, Mark Benton, Adrian Rawlins, Tom Lewis, Ali Ariaie, and Liza Sadovy returning for the new season.
Digital Spy gave season 2 three stars and noted that the characters’ willingness to adapt their expectations of each other for the sake of solving cases brought a welcome new layer to the show. This keeps things interesting for both longtime fans and new viewers.
Patience airs and streams on Channel 4.
