Anne Heche’s Son Forced to Sell Her Assets to Cover $4.1M Debt
Anne Heche’s son, Homer Laffoon, intends to liquidate some of his mother’s possessions to cover the approximately $4.1 million worth of debts owed by her estate.
In August 2022, three months after her unexpected death at the age of 53 due to a car accident in Los Angeles, her oldest child, who was 23 years old at the time, took on the role of estate administrator.
Based on papers acquired by Us Weekly, it appears that Homer submitted a report to the court on March 21st, indicating that her estate has not reached a state where it can be finalized because there are still pending claims from creditors.
In the previous month, specifically February, it was Homer who disclosed findings of approximately $100,000 worth of previously unaccounted-for assets that rightfully belonged to Anne Heche. This revelation came after he was introduced to her by her ex-husband Coleman Laffoon, whom she had welcomed at the time.
Last week, I was absolutely thrilled when Laffoon disclosed in his paperwork that a staggering $200,000 in total assets were left behind by none other than the legendary figure, Ms. Heche! As an ardent fan, this revelation has sent a wave of excitement coursing through me!
The total encompasses funds from her bank, income from acting roles (residuals), possessions she owns personally, as well as companies involved in her entrepreneurial endeavors.
I, being a devoted follower of Homer’s insights, can confirm that he pointed out that ‘tangible personal property’, which in this case includes the late actress’s prized piano, has been relocated to a secure storage facility.
He intends to offload those assets with the help of a highly regarded firm as part of the process for resolving the outstanding legal issues concerning his estate.
In a recent report, Laffoon mentioned that her memoir titled “Call Me Anne,” launched in January 2023, has struggled with low sales figures.
According to Homer, he’s now getting his earnings from past acting roles that used to be Anne’s, all the while looking for additional business ventures that once belonged to Anne as well.
Additionally, he mentioned that the estate cannot be finalized since the total estimated worth of its assets (inventories and appraised values) falls short of the present $4.1 million in outstanding claims.
On August 5, 2022, Anne was involved in an accident where she collided her Mini Cooper with a house in Los Angeles, causing a fire to break out at the location. She was trapped inside the car for approximately 45 minutes before being freed.
The individuals who sold their house last year, following its restoration and listed at a price of $1.35 million, are now seeking $2 million to compensate for the incurred damages.
The woman who was leasing the property when the accident occurred is additionally seeking $2 million due to the loss of her possessions in the subsequent fire.

Previously, Thomas Jane is among those who have asked for a sum of $149,106.04 from the deceased celebrity’s inheritance, as he had lent her the funds prior to their separation.
2022 saw him submit a claim stating that he lent her $157,000 which remained unpaid at the time, including accumulated interest. In this claim, it was also mentioned that he was entitled to an extra $18.77 in daily interest until the debt was settled (Jane’s death).
In April 2024, it was stated by Homer that the value of her estate wasn’t sufficient to meet the large sums demanded after her death in August 2022.
In February of this year, Homer discovered approximately $100,000 worth of assets that belonged to the deceased actress, a discovery made over two years following her passing.
According to InTouch, it was reported that he submitted a legal document detailing an approximate valuation of Heche’s assets, which is around $92,500.
Homer detailed every asset along with their respective values; the most valuable was a 100% stake in Celestia Films, valued at $50,000.
Among the additional holdings were:
* A 50% stake in Anne & Heather Ink LLC
* $25,000 worth of home furnishings housed within a downtown Los Angeles condominium
It’s thought that Anne & Heather Ink LLC might be linked to the Anne & Heather podcast “Better Together” which Anne Heche co-hosted with her friend Heather Duffy from 2020 until her passing in 2022, however, the value of the LLC wasn’t specified.

Additionally, Homer mentioned a sum of $16,500 from various royalty and residual earnings accumulated by the estate.
Based on the documents obtained by InTouch, it’s reported that the estate received a total of $17,000 in various income streams. This includes $10,000 as residual income, $1,500 from royalties for Anne’s 2001 memoir titled “Call Me Crazy,” and another $5,000 from royalties for her 2023 book sequel also named “Call Me Anne.
Approximately a year later, as documented by People in April 2024, Homer stated that his mother’s estate was still not ready for settlement because it wasn’t in a position to do so, due to financial constraints preventing it from paying off its remaining debts.
According to Homer, his mother’s property includes a small savings account, royalties, and additional earnings stemming from her past ventures before she passed away.
According to the documents, Heche had both a corporation where she was the sole owner and an LLC membership interest for a podcast she co-created, in addition to certain valuable personal property. These entities were used primarily for projects associated with her acting career.
As an ardent admirer, I’ve delved into the report uncovering that a portion of the treasured assets have been appraised, totalling approximately $110,000. Yet, the report fell short in clarifying which remaining pieces are yet to be valued or the grand total worth of the entire estate.
Homer stated that he has been actively working on finding suitable resolutions for the debts owed to Heche’s creditors, as there aren’t sufficient funds in the estate at present.
He claimed he made significant attempts at negotiating with the creditors in a bid to prevent lengthy and costly legal disputes.

Previously, Homer expressed a hopeful yet prudent outlook, suggesting that it’s likely all creditor claims could be settled equitably and peacefully, without the need for lawsuits.
Immediately following the accident, Heche was first brought to the emergency room of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Later, she was transferred to the Grossman Burn Center located within West Hills Hospital and Medical Center.
In the incident, Heche was being investigated for a suspected felony DUI, but due to her passing, all legal actions related to this matter have been halted.
According to reports from E! News, based on official documents, it was the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner who concluded that the injuries sustained in a car crash were what led to the demise of Heche.
Medical experts reported that Heche sustained injuries from inhaling harmful substances and heat, a broken chest bone, a torn kidney, and extensive burns covering over 10% of her body.
Back in the day, I was head-over-heels for this fabulous actress who was hitched to a gentleman named Coleman Laffoon from as far back as 2001. Our journey together lasted until our legal separation became official in 2009. During this beautiful ride, we were blessed with an adorable son whom we affectionately call Homer.
Afterward, she started a relationship with James Tupper; however, they parted ways in 2018. During this time, they were blessed with a child whom they named Atlas.
Following her breakup with Tupper, she started dating Thomas Jane; however, their relationship ended prior to the unfortunate car accident that later occurred.
Following the announcement of her passing, Homer paid a heartfelt tribute to his deceased mother, expressing his hope that she was now released from suffering.

He told People that him and his brother Atlas have lost their mother. After six intense days filled with emotions that were hard to believe, he is now experiencing a profound, speechless sadness.
I’m hopeful that my mom is no longer experiencing any discomfort and starting to discover a state I envision as her endless liberation.
Over the course of those six days, countless individuals – friends, family, and admirers alike – expressed their affection towards me through their hearts. (Homer stated this.)
I’m deeply thankful for the love they show me, just like I appreciate the constant support from my father Coley and my stepmother Alexi, who have been my pillar of strength throughout this period. Rest in peace, Mom. You are forever loved by me.
