What do we see in The End of Oak Street trailer?

J.J. Abrams’ new project, The End of Oak Street, is shrouded in mystery, much like his other work. The brief teaser trailer leaves viewers with many unanswered questions, but it seems the film centers around a street that can magically travel to different locations and eras. The trailer ends with a dinosaur running through the neighborhood, hinting that the street has somehow ended up in the prehistoric past.

The new movie follows the Platt family after a strange event suddenly moves their entire suburban neighborhood to a completely different, unknown location. They quickly realize they must rely on each other to survive and find their way around this unfamiliar world.

Maisy Stella and Christian Convery join Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in the film. The movie is produced by Mitchell, Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper, with J.J. Abrams, and features executive producers Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, Joanne Lee, and Leeann Stonebreaker.

David Mitchell is a director and screenwriter, perhaps most famous for his 2014 film, It Follows. He previously directed The Myth of the American Sleepover in 2010 and also wrote the screenplay for The End of Oak Street. More recently, he directed Under the Silver Lake, starring Andrew Garfield, in 2018.

The End of Oak Street arrives in theaters and IMAX in North America on August 14, 2026.
