Anne Hathaway belts out Queen’s Somebody To Love at Broadway’s Kamala Harris rally… 20 years after her performance in Ella Enchanted

As an obsessed fan of Anne Hathaway, I must say her recent performance of “Somebody to Love” at the Broadway for Harris event was nothing short of spectacular! It’s been more than 20 years since she first sang this iconic Queen song, and her voice has only grown more powerful and emotive.

Almost two decades since her performance of the timeless Queen tune “Somebody To Love” in the 2004 movie Ella Enchanted, Anne Hathaway sang it once more on Monday.

At a glittering gathering known as Broadway for Harris, a 41-year-old actress found herself in the company of celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Porter, and Rosie Perez, among others.

After making an appearance at The Apprentice premiere, she confidently stepped onto the stage, declaring her support for Kamala Harris. Furthermore, she expressed her intention of creating a small opening for those still undecided voters tonight (as reported by Yay Show Vids).

She wanted the undecided voter to ‘contemplate a question they might be struggling with,’ before singing the first line to the 1976 hit: ‘Can anybody find me/Somebody to love?’

The actress took to the stage in a shimmering black blazer/skirt with thigh-high black boots on stage.

Near the conclusion of the show, she passionately urged everyone to cast their votes on November 5th.

‘America, the day we need freedom is November 5th. You have a significant decision to make, America, and it’s crucial that you make one – go ahead and cast your vote,’ she said, receiving applause.

In this election, it might be that the person you care about most is yourself. Remember, you should cast your vote for yourself too, America. (Said by Hathaway)

She completed the tune to thunderous cheers from the spectators, waving affectionately towards the audience and initiating a “Kamala” cheer before departing the stage.

The actress was just 21 when she first sang the song on screen, in a scene from Ella Enchanted.

In the movie, Ella appears to be under some sort of control that makes her follow orders, starting off hesitantly but eventually giving an energetic rendition of a song.

Two years prior to her iconic role in “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006), the jukebox musical had a box office revenue of only $27.4 million, while its production cost was $31 million.

The performance follows the announcement that Hathaway will be returning to play two of her previous characters in the past few months.

In an eagerly anticipated follow-up to “The Devil Wears Prada,” she is set to reprise her role as Andy Sachs. This time, she’ll be joining forces with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt once more on the big screen.

In the upcoming film of The Princess Diaries, Hathaway is set to once again play Mia Thermopolis. It’s been whispered that Julie Andrews may reappear in her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.

Besides that, she’s working on a film titled Flowervale Street, starring Ewan McGregor, which is currently in post-production and scheduled to hit theatres on May 16, 2025.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that I’m currently working alongside some exceptional talents in post-production. Alongside me are none other than Mother Mary, Hunter Schaffer, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, and the brilliant Michaela Coel. It’s an honor to be part of such a dynamic team, and I can’t wait to bring our collective efforts to life!
