Anne Hathaway, 43, refuses to ‘discuss medical information’ when asked about her youthful appearance… after facelift rumors

Anne Hathaway chose not to talk about personal health details in her recent Harper’s Bazaar interview when the conversation turned to her appearance.

The famous actress attributed her youthful look to two things: giving up alcohol and consistently using Shiseido products, which she promotes as a brand ambassador.

Rumors of a facelift surfaced after fans noticed how youthful the 43-year-old actress appears, especially now that she’s starring in the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.

The actress sparked rumors about having work done when she appeared on the red carpet late last year looking much younger than her actual age – she seemed to be in her twenties, not her forties.

The Academy Award-winning actress has never publicly confirmed having plastic surgery. However, she revealed in 2008 that she once felt pressure to conform to beauty standards and briefly thought about getting a nose job when she was younger.

In a 2024 interview with Vogue France, Anne Hathaway explained that questions about whether she’s had plastic surgery feel very personal. She also shared that she supports any actor’s choice to address their own insecurities, saying she admires anyone who finds ways to overcome shame and build self-confidence.

And in the past she has denied ever taking injections. 

I remember reading an interview with her from 2010 where she explained why she wasn’t into Botox. She said she wanted her face to show who she was, to really reflect her personality, and she loved that she still had the same smile she’d had since she was a little girl. It was so refreshing to hear!

Although she’s never publicly admitted to having any cosmetic work done, people have constantly guessed about it, including fans and doctors who specialize in plastic surgery, because she looks so young.

The speculation became intense by late 2025, with reports claiming she’d had cosmetic procedures like Botox, fillers, or a ponytail lift.

Hathaway told the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar that she struggles with her body.

‘Some days you look in the mirror and you’re just like, “Not bad,”‘ she said.

She explained that some days you just look in the mirror and don’t recognize yourself, and that she was having one of those days.

We all have that swimsuit we love but rarely wear, hoping to feel amazing in it someday. Then there’s the one that just always fits and makes you feel good. I mistakenly packed the first one – the ‘someday’ swimsuit.

Honestly, I ended up wearing it on a really unexpected day! Now, I’m just looking forward to a wonderful day with my family. It does mean being out in public, and of course, everyone has their phones out these days, but I’m ready to embrace it all!

I realized my family was expecting me, and when I looked at myself, I was surprised. Then it hit me – I was forty-three years old! Looking at my body, I thought, ‘That’s good.’

She explained that she initially felt insecure when anticipating something different, but felt relieved once she understood the reality of the situation.

‘I think you realize that worry should be reserved for the really big stuff,’ she told Bazaar.

But she said she is happier now than when she was younger. 

Hathaway believes it’s often assumed that people are happiest when they’re young, but she doesn’t agree with that idea. She didn’t anticipate feeling even more fulfilled after turning 40.
