Anne Burrell ‘struggled’ with fame before her shocking death as insider reveals she ‘wasn’t happy’

Anne Burrell had a zest for life that endeared her to Food Network viewers. 

Tragically, she was discovered deceased at her residence earlier this week, sparking widespread conjecture regarding the details surrounding her passing.

Anne reportedly suffered cardiac arrest, and her body was surrounded by pills. 

Currently, a friend of hers is sharing insights into Anne’s vibrant character and discussing the aspirations she had when she passed away.

‘She made everything fun. She was a true force of nature,’ a friend of Burrell’s told Page Six. 

‘Her personality was so big,’ they said, noting that there was a dark side to her fame.

Anne gained prominence alongside Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay, and Guy Fieri on the Food Network, yet the limelight she found there felt more like a prolonged shade to her.

The friend shared with Page Six that it seemed she had some difficulties, particularly when she appeared on television with aspirations of becoming a well-known culinary personality on TV.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself following a renowned figure who was immersed in the world of culinary and vintages. She was constantly on the move, attending food and wine events, yet there was a sense of unease that lingered around her, which I couldn’t help but pick up on.

‘People with big personalities sometimes mask things.’

Anne had aspirations to broaden her experiences and explore acting, even attending improvisation workshops, prior to her untimely death at the age of 55.

In March, she made an appearance on the “Misspelling” podcast hosted by Tori Spelling. She mentioned that she recently began attending acting classes and had her first session the day before – it’s essentially an improvisation course for actors.

Upon arrival, I found myself among just eight students. I am the eldest of the group. Each of the others seems to boast a Master of Fine Arts in Theater.

In a playful manner, Burrell displayed her well-known self-awareness and wit when she humorously addressed the difference in age compared to her peers among the student body.

She said: ‘I’m like, “okay, I’ve never taken an acting class. I don’t know, this is new to me.”

I sometimes ponder if these charming and exceptionally skilled children might think, “Why is this elderly woman present here?” in a friendly and casual manner.

For Season 28, the popular TV host decided to step away from her series “Worst Cooks in America,” leaving numerous fans puzzled. At that point, she was questioned about the reasons behind this choice, being Spelling, aged 52.

Burrell replied: “Yes, I can cook, and I can handle TV work too. But there’s more to me than that; I have other things I want to accomplish in life.

She also admitted that she was just ‘dipping my toe’ when it came to the pivot to acting.

Burrell shared his enthusiasm by saying, “I’m really looking forward to it! There are a few other projects I’m currently handling, but I’m still keeping them under wraps for now. Fingers crossed, there will be some thrilling updates soon!

The decision baffled many fans, and Spelling, 52, questioned what prompted it at the time.
