On Sunday, Annabelle, famously recognized for her character Grace Burgess in the acclaimed BBC series Peaky Blinders, took on a supportive role as her partner was nominated for more than one award.
I’ve been completely ecstatic, almost bursting with pride, as I found myself nominated for not just one but two prestigious acting awards! Sebastian was up for the Best Actor in a Drama category, all thanks to his spellbinding portrayal of none other than Donald Trump in The Apprentice. But that wasn’t all – he also made the cut for the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy category with his remarkable performance in A Different Man! In this movie, the story revolves around the character of Edward, who aspires to act. He goes through an extreme makeover surgery to change his looks dramatically, but his desired perfect face swiftly becomes a terrifying reality instead.
After losing to Adrien in the Drama category, Sebastian admitted that he had to forgo an appearance on Variety’s Actors on Actors due to other Hollywood celebrities being hesitant to discuss Donald Trump with him.
In November, the actor playing the President-elect in his upcoming biographical film watched a screening of the movie, and he mentioned that he had been scheduled to appear on the next season of a popular talk show.
In this distinctive program, there are discussions held between actors from various movies and television series, who engage in informal chats.
Yet, due to a lack of other actors willing to participate and potentially discuss a contentious political figure, Sebastian was forced to withdraw from the production.
In a YouTube video shared by an attendee, Sebastian explained that he was unable to collaborate on the film since no other actor dared to discuss the project due to fear. Consequently, he had to abandon the project himself.
He continued, saying that they were unable to discuss the film with either the publicists or those acting as their intermediaries, as they seemed overly cautious or unwilling to talk about it.
Then, he voiced his worries that individuals might grow too apprehensive or uneasy to engage in open discussions, which could potentially result in an issue arising.
When I believe we might be heading towards a challenging predicament. If things continue in such a way – with people feeling fearful or uncomfortable discussing the matter – then indeed, we may encounter significant difficulties.
This is not the first time Sebastian has been vocal over a project he has worked on.
Sebastian called out a reporter for describing his co-star Adam Pearson as a ‘beast.’
This past September, during the Berlin Film Festival, the Marvel cast member, who is now 39 years old (named Adam), and he were publicizing their forthcoming film titled “A Different Man” earlier this year.
The movie chronicles the journey of Edward, played by Sebastian, as he undergoes facial reconstructive surgery. However, his character develops an intrigue towards Oswald, a performer who reenacts him in a theatrical production. Interestingly, Pearson, the actor portraying Edward, experiences neurofibromatosis, a medical condition that leads to the growth of non-cancerous tumors on nerve tissues in reality.
In response to a journalist labeling him as “Edward the beast” before his operation, Sebastian defended himself during a question-and-answer session.
As a die-hard admirer, I find myself pondering over your intriguing question: “What might transpire once the so-called ‘beast’ undergoes his transformation into the seemingly flawless gentleman?” It truly sparks curiosity!
Sebastian countered: “I’d like to point out a few words you used, as I believe one reason the movie holds significance lies in the fact that sometimes we might lack the appropriate terminology.
It seems to be a bit more intricate, considering linguistic differences and all, but I believe ‘beast’ might not accurately convey my intended meaning.
The actor mentioned that, overall, it’s intriguing to listen to this perspective since, in a way, it mirrors one of the movie’s messages: we often hold preconceived notions about things.
“We don’t fully grasp this situation, so I’m unable to comment on it. However, what appeals to me about the film is that it presents an angle from which one can contemplate the subject matter.
Perhaps by maintaining an objective perspective throughout your movie-watching experience, you might be able to scrutinize your initial reactions more effectively. Sometimes, these first impressions may not be entirely accurate.
