Annabelle 4 Could Be Happening: Horror Filmmakers Drop Cryptic Tease After 6 Years

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but feel a chill run down my spine at the thought of the eerie Annabelle movie series potentially making a comeback after a six-year hiatus. Though no formal announcements have been made regarding a fourth film, whispers behind the scenes suggest that discussions about its return to the big screen are underway.

“It’s been talked about. That’s all I can… that’s all I’ll say about it,” Dauberman said.

Sandberg added, “I mean, she’s still around. You could do a modern day one.”

Dauberman went on to say, “There are numerous possibilities for a possible fourth movie, but it ultimately depends on New Line’s choice.

Is Annabelle Going to Return in a Fourth Film?

According to Dauberman’s latest news, it appears that there’s still a chance for Annabelle 4, although no official production has started yet. The project might be reconsidered following the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, set to premiere in September. This film will allegedly be the last Conjuring movie featuring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as the Warrens. Additionally, there’s talk about another Conjuring-related project currently being developed.

At present, aficionados of horror can witness Dauberman and Sandberg’s latest chilling creation, Until Dawn. This production, sharing its name with a well-known video game, prioritizes practical effects to create a tangible experience for the audience. The filmmakers have also discussed with Drake how the film industry is evolving with the advent of AI, yet they believe that traditional, handcrafted movie magic will continue to captivate cinema enthusiasts.

Sandberg stated, ‘I have numerous ideas about the future direction of our business.’ He continued, ‘In the near future, it will be possible for anyone to generate Marvel-like productions using AI. However, when everyone can do this, what truly sets one apart? It’s the elements that cannot be replicated by AI – practical effects, dramas, and things that are yet to be achieved with technology.’ Essentially, he suggests that uniqueness lies in areas where AI is not yet capable or not commonly used.

Until Dawn will be released in movie theaters on April 25, 2025.
