Annabel Croft Slashes £1M Off Dream Home After Husband’s Death

Devastated by grief, Annabel Croft is offering her cherished house at a reduced rate, hoping to find solace in a new beginning after the unexpected passing of her treasured spouse.

In May 2023, after a diagnosis of stage four colon cancer 16 weeks prior, the longtime partner and former international yachtsman, Mel Coleman (age 60), passed away, having been married to the tennis legend for 30 years.

Stricken with sorrow, Annabel confessed that she had wept profusely each day for quite some time. However, she’s determined to start anew and leave behind the place they once considered their eternal home.

To encourage a sale, the 58-year-old athlete has reduced the asking price of her beautiful mansion in Surrey by an astounding £1.2M. This was once her home that she shared with her spouse for 24 years.

The six bedroom, five bedroom property is now on the market for £5.65 million.

Compared to similar properties in the neighborhood, this one is significantly cheaper, and its current price is substantially lower than the initial asking price of £6.75 million in November 2022, which was later withdrawn from the market.

The property is referred to as a delightful household abode, situated near the prestigious King’s College School that charges an annual fee of £30,000. This proximity makes it exceptionally appealing for families.

The spacious kitchen/dining room features an attached sunroom that leads to a terrace, and it boasts one of the biggest gardens found nearby.

Four bedrooms come with attached bathrooms, and the master bedroom features a spacious walk-in closet equipped with custom-made storage units.

Four rooms have their own private baths, and the main room boasts a big walk-in wardrobe filled with tailor-made shelves.

Additionally, there’s a chance they could expand the Swish Pad, considering they’ve already secured permission for an extra garage or living area in previous plans.

Although Annabel reduced the sale price, she’ll still earn a profit since she purchased the house back in July 2001 for only £1.3 million.

The Strictly celebrity managed to buy their home for less due to its poor condition following extensive water damage caused by students leaving a faucet running, leading to flooding.

Afterward, they both put effort into renovating the house jointly, and Annabel openly acknowledged her newfound enthusiasm for do-it-yourself projects, essentially becoming a DIY enthusiast.

Even though the house includes a year-round tennis court, it’s more than enough space for just one person, according to Annabel.

She feels that the moment has arrived for her to relocate, expressing this to Richard Eden of the Mail when she said: ‘I’m not shedding tears daily anymore, I’m prepared to part with my property.’

Last month, she shared a heartfelt story on The Mid.Point podcast about assisting her daughter with moving homes, which in turn motivated her to declutter her own residence. However, she finds herself struggling to part ways with her late daughter Mel’s old toothbrush.

She mentioned that she is considering relocating from her family home, which she has lived in for approximately a quarter of a century. However, she wants to take things gradually and make the transition at her own pace, ensuring she’s fully prepared before the day arrives when she must ultimately leave.

It has been two years since I began organizing Mel’s closet, and I finally tackled it this week. It was a challenging task for me. A few weeks back, I sorted out his shoes as well. Clearly, there are many memories associated with these items. It’s undeniably emotional and painful for me to do so.

When I relocate, I’ll undoubtedly hang on to a few items. It’s an emotional process, but I believe it’s necessary.

I haven’t managed to discard his toothbrush yet, as it’s stored in a small cabinet in the bathroom. Each time I see it, I find it difficult to part with it, so I don’t end up tossing it.

‘That’s the one thing I just don’t know when I can do that.’
