While it’s true that Lauren Sanchez graced the digital cover of Vogue, it doesn’t automatically make her style align with Anna Wintour’s fashion tastes when it comes to her personal wardrobe.

In the most recent digital edition of the style bible, Jeff Bezos’ new spouse is prominently featured on the cover while wearing her wedding gown. Additionally, in 2023, she had a dedicated photo shoot for the magazine as part of an article highlighting her life with the Amazon founder, who is now 61 years old.

However, amidst these significant achievements, it was discovered that Wintour had penned a notably critical appraisal of the journalist’s personal style in fashion.

Preparing for her first appearance at the Met Gala last year, it became known that Sanchez, aged 55, would be allowed to attend the event only if Anna Wintour had a hand in choosing her outfit.

A source close to Wintour confided to Amy Odell, her biographer, that the meticulous editor, aged 75, recognizes Sanchez’s questionable style sensibilities. As a result, she has been offering her personal assistance in choosing a dress for him.

Sanchez is well-known for sporting outfits that reveal quite a bit of her athletically sculpted body.

According to Odell’s writing, Anna doesn’t often take a personal interest in the clothing choices of guests. He further mentioned that she was collaborating with Sanchez to decide between custom designs by the fashionably classic designer Oscar de la Renta and two other unnamed designers as options.

In 2023, actor Jared Leto attended an event dressed as Karl Lagerfield’s cat, while Kim Kardashian, a reality TV star, had previously been an attendee without any reports of restrictions. This suggests a clear lack of confidence in the event or its organizers.

It is said that Anna was among several celebrities who received an invitation to Jeff Bezos’ wedding, but she was unable to attend because of prior travel commitments, according to Page Six.

In fact, as reported by Page Six, she was involved in the decision-making process for Sanchez’s wedding dress. More specifically, Wintour assisted the former journalist in selecting the gown she wore on her wedding day.

The wedding weekend arrived following the announcement that Wintour was relinquishing one of her positions at Vogue, after having held it for 37 years.

Just last week, it was announced by Wintour to her team members that they would be welcoming a fresh head of editorial content at American Vogue, as reported by Women’s Wear Daily.

In her current role, she will maintain her positions as both the Global Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director at Vogue. The newly appointed Head of Editorial Content will now be supervised by her.

In this role as the Chief Content Officer, Wintour is responsible for guiding all brands worldwide, such as Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, Architectural Digest (AD), Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appetit, Tatler, World of Interiors, and Allure, among others.

The CEO of Conde Nast, Roger Lynch, stated to the Wall Street Journal that Anna Wintour should step away from American Vogue to concentrate on her other positions within the company. He noted that since 2020, she has been managing three roles.

‘This will enable her to make time for everyone who needs her,’ he said.

The unexpected choice she made has left the fashion industry staggering, since it’s hard to find someone capable of taking over her design role – and the void she left is quite substantial.

Enthusiasts of fashion trends are expressing disbelief on platform X (formerly known as Twitter), referring to this development as the ‘conclusion of an era’. They find it hard to imagine, given her long-standing association with the brand over the years.
