Anna Maxwell Martin’s “propulsive paranoid thriller” gets first look at exciting, stacked cast

A first look has been released at the cast of Anna Maxwell Martin’s new thriller series, Star City. The show is a spin-off of For All Mankind and continues its story in the same alternate history where the Soviet Union landed on the moon first.

This new thriller tells the story of the Soviet space program, offering a unique look at the cosmonauts, the engineers who supported them, and the intelligence officers working alongside them. It highlights the dangers they all faced in their pursuit of space exploration.

A preview of the new series has been released before its debut on Apple TV on May 29th. The preview features Martin as Lyudmilla, her character who leads the KGB surveillance department at Star City.

Rhys Ifans, known for House of the Dragon, plays the lead designer and key figure in the Soviet Space Program, while Agnes O’Casey, from Black Doves, also appears.

The cast also includes Solly McLeod, who appears with Ifans in House of the Dragon, as well as Alice Englert from Bad Behaviour, Adam Nagaitis known for Chernobyl, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis of I, Jack Wright, Josef Davies from Andor, and Priya Kansara who stars in Bridgerton.

The new series, Star City, is created by the team behind For All Mankind: Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore. Nedivi and Wolpert are also leading the show as showrunners.

The show has been available on Apple TV since 2019, and its fifth season will be released on March 27th, before the premiere of Star City.

The next season of For All Mankind jumps ahead to the 2010s, following the events of the asteroid heist. The lunar base, Happy Valley, has become a successful colony with thousands of people and is now serving as a launching point for even more ambitious space missions throughout the solar system.

As Earth’s countries push for greater control and stability on Mars, tensions are rising between the Martian colonists and the people of Earth.

Star City will debut on Apple TV on May 29th with the first two episodes, and then new episodes will be released every Friday. The show For All Mankind will return on March 27th, also with new episodes each Friday.
