Anna Kendrick’s new movie finally confirms UK release date
As a hardcore gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for unique and thrilling experiences that push the boundaries of storytelling. And it seems that Anna Kendrick’s new movie “Self Reliance” is exactly that – an intriguing comedy-thriller that promises to keep me engaged from start to finish.
Anna Kendrick’s new movie Self Reliance will be available to watch in the UK very soon.
A comedy-thriller penned and helmed by actor Jake Johnson, best known for his role in “New Girl” and starring himself, will premiere on August 9, only on Paramount+’s streaming platform.
I’m an enthusiastic movie buff and this year, I was really looking forward to watching a highly anticipated film. And guess what? The movie was made available on Hulu in the US around the beginning of the year, specifically on January 12th. But here’s the cherry on top – before its digital release, there was a one-day special cinema screening, giving lucky viewers like me a unique cinematic experience! What a thrill it was to witness it on the big screen before the rest of the world could enjoy it at home!
In addition to the main actors, you’ll find Andy Samberg from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Emily Hampshire of “Schitt’s Creek,” Natalie Morales starring in “Dead to Me,” and the legendary Christopher Lloyd known for his role in “Back to the Future.”
In “Self Reliance,” the story centers around Tommy, a middle-aged man, who receives an intriguing invitation to participate in a game on the dark web with a chance to win a million dollars through a reality TV show.
For thirty days, Tommy must manage to stay alive as a band of international assassins, referred to as ‘hunters,’ make an attempt on his life. Fortunately, Tommy discovers a rule in this deadly game: the hunters can harm him only when he is unaccompanied.
To prevent death and ensure victory, Tommy just has to be surrounded by people. But since his loved ones doubt the authenticity of the game, he must seek out new companions instead.
I was thrilled when I came across another contestant, played by Ana Kendrick. We hit it off instantly, and before we knew it, we were spending all our time together in this treacherous game. Our shared goal of winning the prize money brought us even closer. It felt like an unbreakable bond was forming between us as we navigated through each challenge.
I attended the world premiere of this movie at SXSW back in March 2023. Now, when I check Rotten Tomatoes to see what other people thought about it, I’m glad to find that a whopping 73% of the 59 reviews gave it a thumbs-up.
I, Jake Johnson, made my directorial debut with the film “Self Reliance.” You might recognize me from my role as Nick on the popular TV show “New Girl” on Fox. More recently, I appeared in the now-canceled HBO Max series “Minx.”
Johnson provides the voice for Peter B. Parker in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” However, it’s not certain if he will reprise his role for the upcoming third installment, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”
Self Reliance is released on August 9 on Paramount+.
