As a seasoned film enthusiast with years of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that Anna Kendrick seems to be on a roll these days! From stepping into the director’s shoes for Woman of the Hour to reprising her role in Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor sequel, she’s definitely making her mark.

For approximately two years following the public disclosure of her survival from a psychologically abusive partnership, Anna Kendrick persisted in talking about her ‘terrible’ ex-boyfriend who she had regarded as her ‘husband-in-everything-but-name’ on a recent occasion.

39-year-old Oscar nominee recounted on Call Her Daddy that he hadn’t anticipated just how utterly convinced he was of his own victimization. It seemed to her that he truly thought she was inflicting pain upon him.

I had been holding back tears, but I could no longer hide the fact that everything wasn’t okay. Suddenly, I broke down crying, and he responded angrily, shouting, “You’re causing me distress!” However, it was a response born from someone who genuinely felt distressed because they thought they were being tormented.

Anna went on to say, “It was extremely challenging for me to assert, ‘I believe that’s him, and I think those belong to him.’ My entire life was flipped around as I worked to rectify any issues I might have had.

In their counseling sessions for couples, Kendrick felt envious towards his ex’s composure when he would become upset and act impulsively during their therapy sessions. Later on, the therapist acknowledged this behavior by offering an apology to him.

A Main native pondered, “I’m putting a great deal of effort into pleasing this difficult individual. Now that I’ve lost my temper, how much worse will things become?

‘Weirdly, he was fine.’

In 2021, when Anna filmed the abuse drama “Alice, Darling”, she asserted that she had recently ended a seven-year relationship prior to the filming. It’s also reported that around the same time, she was rumored to be dating her co-star Bill Hader from the movie “Noelle”.

Prior to the 46-year-old ex-SNL star, Kendrick was in a relationship with cinematographer Ben Richardson, who worked on four of her movies – Drinking Buddies (2013), Happy Christmas (2014), Digging for Fire (2015), and Table 19 (2017).

The award-winning actor, nominated for a Tony, is currently unattached. When considering potential suitors, she has just one non-negotiable condition.

Anna made it clear that she wouldn’t entertain any romantic involvement, not even a friendly chat or a simple kiss, unless the person has undergone or is currently undergoing therapy.

At present, Kendrick is joyfully marking her successful first venture as a feature film director with Woman of the Hour, which has remarkably climbed to the top spot among Netflix’s most-watched movies this week.

Currently, the 94-minute crime thriller boasts a ‘freshly certified’ 91% approval from critics (based on 129 reviews), along with an audience rating of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.
