Anita Dobson Reveals Brian May’s Health Update: Queen Guitarist Stable After Stroke
Anita Dobson recently shared significant news about her well-known spouse, Brian May, who experienced a stroke in September and has since lost the ability to use one of his arms.
The EastEnders alum, 75, and the legendary guitarist, 77, have been happily married since 2000.
Now, the actress has eased her followers’ concerns by stating that Brian is presently in a ‘steady’ condition. Moreover, she shared that he was well enough to embark on a vacation to Lapland during the holiday season.
According to Anita, our beginning of the year has had its highs and lows. She and I have each battled the flu, yet we managed to take our 15 children to Lapland, as she shared with The Sun.
‘Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved.
She found it surprising, being a lifelong resident of London, as she had never ventured into the countryside before, especially not to a place requiring extensive renovation.
1. “He appreciates what it’s brought about in Brian’s life…he adores the avian and animal inhabitants. He takes care of every single bird and the badgers, foxes, and pheasants by feeding them.” (Informal)
2. “Brian is thrilled with its impact on him…he cherishes birds and beasts. He looks after all the avian and mammalian creatures, including birds, badgers, foxes, and pheasants, by providing food for them.” (Formal)
Sharing details about the couple’s future arrangements, as Brian recovers – Anita mentioned they’re eager to visit friends in Switzerland, and she also has a new series of Doctor Who upcoming.
Although she has some thrilling projects in the works, this cherished actress is contentedly relaxing at home for now and finds enjoyment in extending her stay there.
She thought deeply, observing that at any moment, it might be anyone’s turn. What she meant was that they were simply dealing with each day as it arrived.
Earlier, Brian May (from The Queen) disclosed that he was hurried to the hospital due to a health crisis, as depicted in a video posted on his personal site.
However, towards the end of last December, Anita reassured her fans once more that the renowned guitarist’s health had shown signs of improvement. She added that he was resuming his piano and guitar practice again.
At the TRIC Christmas Lunch, the EastEnders actress expressed her relief by saying, “He’s doing so much better these days. He’s stable now, and that’s fantastic news.
I’m really crossing my fingers for no more repeats of this situation. Fortunately, he’s regained the ability to use his previously troubled arm again.
Sure thing!
“Indeed, he’s all set now. You’ll often find him practicing the piano at home these days. He has a soft spot for Beethoven’s compositions. I must say, having the piano in our house is incredibly soothing.
Anita clarified that the musician chose to delay experimenting with various musical instruments, so he could focus on improving his skills over time.
She clarified that he only made an effort to do something once he had made a significant recovery. Then, at a slow pace, he began to play an acoustic guitar, gradually strengthening his muscles.
In no time at all, it returned as if nothing had happened. Essentially, he’s reconditioning the signals from your brain to that arm, making it feel secure again about its former functions. The experience was quite frightening.
Later on, she exclaimed, “Moreover, his intelligence is remarkable given his circumstances. His mind seems to be overflowing; he’s exceptionally intelligent to a point that might not always work in his favor.
I shared the news of my recent health scare – a stroke – in a lively video update. Though it was a bit terrifying, I’m eager to share that I’m still capable of strumming my guitar after this small setback I like to call my “health hiccup.
At that moment, he requested his fans to avoid sending an overflow of well-wishes to his inbox, mentioning that he prefers not to receive sympathies.
In May 2020, the guitarist was dealing with a torn muscle and a compressed nerve due to an accident while gardening, when he had a heart attack.
In the video, he stated: “I’ve got some positive news to share with you – what I’m excited to tell you is that despite the recent happenings, I’m now able to play the guitar again.” He gestured by fidgeting with his hands to highlight his point.
I’m stating this due to some uncertainty, as I had a minor health issue – a minor stroke, which occurred approximately a week ago.
In an open discussion, it emerged that the author of “We Will Rock You” experienced a temporary loss of function in his left arm following an incident. He also shared an exhilarating ambulance ride to Frimley Hospital in Surrey. Throughout this ordeal, he commended the medical professionals for providing him with exceptional care.
Suddenly, unexpectedly, I lost control of my arm, which was quite frightening, I must admit,” he added on.
At the moment, I chose not to express myself as I didn’t wish for any additional attention or complications. To be clear, I don’t ask for sympathy. I appreciate if you could refrain from offering it, as I find such messages tend to clutter my inbox and I dislike that feeling.
However, the advocate for animal rights, who has been vocal in his opposition to the killing of badgers to halt the transmission of bovine tuberculosis, finds himself unable to act at the moment, stating that he is temporarily restricted or confined.
‘The good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing. I’m grounded.
‘I can’t leave home right now because I’m not permitted to drive or fly, and my physical activities are restricted. However, I’m doing well in other aspects.’
The individual with both a passion for rock music and a doctorate in astrophysics (having temporarily left academia) was spotted out and about recently, as he made an appearance on ITV’s This Morning program on August 23 of the previous year to discuss his BBC documentary focusing on badger tuberculosis.
Anita, who played Angie Watts on EastEnders, has been at Brian’s side throughout his setbacks.
Previously, she shared details about his stroke during a guest spot on Loose Women in October. She confessed that the incident served as a significant reminder and eye-opener for both of them.
Upon being queried about Brian’s condition, Anita released a breath and shared: “At this moment, I can confidently report that he’s steady and has managed to get past it.
The audience erupted in applause upon hearing the good news. However, panelist Kay Adams commented, ‘Don’t you find that surprising, too?’
Anita confessed that it had come as quite a shock and a significant eye-opener for both of them, making them realize how quickly we move through life, eager to accomplish our goals, experiencing failures and successes along the way.
‘That moment when we’ll need to slow down is unavoidable, and it certainly caused both Brian and me to realize that our youth isn’t endless.’
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a thought: Eventually, you may find yourself in a position where you need to let go of some activities you once enjoyed. This means taking it easy and learning to make adjustments along the way.
It’s been quite surprising, yet not entirely unexpected since he’s safe and sound. He remains an influential figure.
Anita encountered Brian not long after she started working on EastEnders, during a movie premiere event. At that time, Brian was still wedded to his initial spouse, Chrissie, and they shared three young kids together.
She remembered: He asked me to join him and some friends to watch Queen perform at Wembley, an experience that introduced me to a world I had previously just imagined. Meeting my spouse marked the beginning of this journey.
In this situation, there was an individual who held divine status worldwide. If he requested you to create a record (for instance, Brian produced her 1988 album, Talking Of Love), a Learjet would magically appear to transport you to Vienna. But as for whether she found it problematic that he was married, she had stated earlier in an interview with the Daily Mail that she wasn’t aware of his marital status.
I felt deeply saddened when he shared the news with me. We had a fierce argument. I was offended. I thought to myself: ‘How can you be with me if you’re already married?’ So, we maintained a certain level of detachment until we could find a way to be together that wasn’t complicated. But it was challenging, incredibly challenging.
‘Hurt is an inevitable part of life, especially when children are involved, as it’s not ideal. However, when people find themselves in love, it’s beyond one’s control. Even if the relationship ends, the pain lingers, hindering progress because it remains unresolved.’
1) “Despite facing immense hardships together, I am convinced that what we experienced was genuine love. Time has passed, and now I enjoy positive relationships with his kids and former spouse.
