It’s not just about the heavy hitters like TEKKEN 8 or Street Fighter 6; there’s a whole universe of passionate gamers who love titles like Melty Blood and Guilty Gear.
At the upcoming CEOtaku 2024 gaming event, a wide array of fighting game titles will be showcased, ranging from popular mainstays to lesser-known gems. This year’s event proudly reverts back to its original focus on anime-themed gaming!
In late 2024, the Fighting Games Community (FGC) hosts a spectacular event: either CEOtaku VIII or simply CEOtaku 2024. This occasion stands out due to its extensive lineup of anime-themed combatants.
Following criticism for moving towards larger game titles like Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, CEOtaku 2024 undergoes a transformation of its identity. Now, UNI2 stands as one of the key games, with TEKKEN 8 and Street Fighter 6 being relegated to a supporting role — despite having numerous registered participants.
CEOtaku VIII offers an exceptional opportunity to immerse in the festive spirit alongside competitive fighting game esports, boasting an anime-themed extravaganza. Why is CEOtaku important for the community?
The main focus of most players in the FGC may naturally drift to the biggest titles, such as TEKKEN 8 and Street Fighter 6, but this doesn’t mean there are no smaller groups of dedicated gamers. People really enjoy Melty Blood and earlier Guilty Gear games. There are communities and competitors within JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, BlazBlue: Centralfiction, and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.
The core concept behind CEOtaku is to elevate these anime-inspired fighter characters into the forefront. While other esports events sometimes feature lesser-known titles, they often do so as part of community tournaments. However, CEOtaku specifically zeroes in on these specific games, making it a significant platform within the fighting game community.
World Tours at CEOtaku 2024
2024’s Arc World Tour (AWT) qualifying rounds will take place during CEOtaku 2024. Elite players compete in these tournaments not only for the thrill, but also to accumulate ranking points.
- Guilty Gear Strive — Jonathan Tene, the winner of VSFighting XI.
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising — Elsa, the winner of CEO 2024; Zippy, the winner of Combo Breaker 2024; Aarondamac. The winner of Evo 2024.
Furthermore, the King of Fighters XV competition serves as the official qualifying event for the SNK World Championship in 2025. These opportunities don’t come often, and just a single qualification slot will be up for grabs at CEOtaku 2024, exclusively for the tournament victor.
