Rovio Entertainment has added a new bird, Shade, to Angry Birds 2! She’s the first new character added to the game since 2022 and is available for a limited time through an event running until May 7th. Let’s take a closer look at what she brings to the game.
Shades arrives with new never seen before gameplay mechanics in the series
Let me tell you a little about Shade. She used to be known as Dahlia, an inventive character who tried a ritual she found in Gale’s Ancient Book. The ritual turned her into a ghostly bird. It’s been a long time since a new bird was added to the game, and I’m glad to finally see one!

Shade isn’t just a new look; she also brings fresh gameplay to the series. Once launched from the slingshot, she can pass through obstacles without being stopped. Her unique Spinning Slash ability allows her to cut through towers and pig defenses while simultaneously phasing right through them.
If you’ve finished Saga Level 23, you can unlock the character Shade by finding special feathers during certain events and game modes. You can also buy her directly in the game. I recommend unlocking her through the events because you’ll own her forever, even after the event is over. She’s the newest character available, released since 2022, so be sure to get her!
