Angie Best provided an update on her health from the hospital, letting everyone know she’s getting ready for her next chemotherapy treatment.
George Best’s former wife announced earlier this month that she has colon cancer, which has unfortunately spread to her liver.
The mother, who has one child, is now undergoing treatment for her illness in Switzerland. Her son, Calum, age 44, is providing her with support.
Angie, 73, recently shared that her doctors want her to gain weight before starting treatment.
On Friday, Angie posted a video from her bed to Instagram, explaining that she was being forced to drink a high-calorie drink she described as ‘awful’.
She shared a video with the caption: ‘Here we go again – they’re making me eat a sugary treat! I’m starting another round of chemotherapy on Tuesday.’
In the video, she shared that she was happy to be back at a place she loves with her wonderful nurse, who is Swiss and also speaks English.
I’m really trying to put on some weight, and honestly, it means I have to drink these… well, let’s just say they’re not the tastiest shakes in the world! [holds up high calorie shake]
Honestly, it’s driving me mad! I’ve been searching everywhere for a simple jelly baby, but I just can’t find one. And the worst part? Apparently, the only ice cream you can get in Switzerland is a Cornetto! It’s unbelievable, really.
Earlier this week, Angie shared with her fans that she’s been struggling to do even basic things, and was seen resting in bed while discussing it.
She was really struggling and asked for advice, saying she felt completely unable to cope with daily tasks like getting out of bed, brushing her teeth, or even eating. She described it as a terrible experience.
Coughing in the clip, she concluded: ‘Any advice there, homies?’
Angie added a message with the video, saying it’s not okay to feel this way and offering support to anyone who is struggling. She wrote, ‘Seeing this like it’s normal is concerning. There’s nothing normal about it. If you’re going through a hard time, remember we’re all here for each other.’
Her son, Calum, left a supportive comment on the video, saying he was sorry to see her struggling but believed things would improve. He finished with a loving message: ‘I love you.’
Samantha Womack, 53, known for her role on EastEnders and a breast cancer survivor, shared a message of support, saying, ‘I’m thinking of you, and it’s really tough at first. Sending you lots of love.’
Angie is undergoing mistletoe therapy, a cancer treatment that involves extracts from the European mistletoe plant. It’s been used as an alternative treatment in Europe, especially in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, for many years.
Some people think it can boost the immune system and help cancer patients feel better, but doctors don’t all agree on whether it actually works.
The NHS doesn’t currently offer this as a standard cancer treatment because major UK cancer organizations haven’t found enough solid proof that it reliably cures the disease.
It can be used alongside chemotherapy, which is what Angie is doing.
Earlier this month, Calum shared heartbreaking news in a social media video: his mother had been diagnosed with an illness.
In a recent video, the celebrity shared some upsetting news: their mother was recently diagnosed with cancer. They explained that their mom has always prioritized her health and wellbeing, making the diagnosis particularly shocking.
She’s always prioritized her overall well-being – looking after her physical health, mental state, and spirit. However, cancer can affect anyone, regardless of their lifestyle.
It doesn’t discriminate based on background, lifestyle, or health habits. And now, it’s affecting my mother directly.
Calum said he hasn’t shed a tear in years, but he’s been experiencing a lot of ups and downs emotionally ever since his mother was diagnosed with an illness.
‘My mum has been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to her liver,’ he explained.
To make progress, we require specialized medical attention and experts who can provide the necessary care. It’s difficult to admit, but I simply can’t afford to continue covering these costs by myself.
The reality TV star created a GoFundMe campaign to pay for his mother’s specialized medical care. He explained that even a small donation would make a difference in getting her the treatment and support she needs.
