As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the virtual world, I must say that the anticipation for Angelina Jolie’s new movie “Maria” is akin to the build-up before an epic boss battle in my favorite RPG. The trailer for this film has been like a tantalizing hint of the rare and powerful artifact that lies ahead, and I cannot wait to add it to my collection of cinematic masterpieces.

Angelina Jolie’s new movie Maria has confirmed its Netflix US release date.

The movie featuring the actor portraying opera singer Maria Callas will be available on the American version of the streaming service starting on Wednesday, December 11. Prior to this, there will be a short cinema run in the US on November 27. (According to Variety).

In the United Kingdom, StudioCanal plans to premiere the movie in theaters on January 10th. However, as for when it will be streamed online here, we’re still waiting for that information.

At the Venice Film Festival, Maria had its first appearance and was met with an eight-minute long standing ovation that left Angelina Jolie in tears. This was followed by a fierce bidding war, ultimately won by the American streaming service, securing the distribution rights for the film.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but express my delight over the incredible response to the film masterfully directed by Pablo Larraín, known for his work with Jackie and Spencer. The script, penned by none other than Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, has truly captivated me. Critics are raving about Angelina Jolie’s extraordinary performance, and they’re predicting that both she and the film itself will be honored with prestigious awards. I can hardly wait to see this cinematic marvel!

Upon the announcement of the Netflix deal, Larraín stated: “This is a creative exploration and intimate portrayal of Maria Callas, who spent her life performing for global audiences. In the end, she chooses to discover her own voice, her own identity, and sing for herself. I am profoundly humbled to bring this story to life and share it with audiences worldwide, just as Maria did with her own.

Jolie mentioned about her preparations for the role: “For nearly seven months, I trained extensively because when collaborating with Pablo, he insists, in the most inspiring manner, that you fully commit to the work and truly learn and prepare.

“My first time singing I remember being so nervous. My sons were there and they helped lock the door so that nobody else was coming in, and I was shaky. Pablo, in his decency, started me in a small room and ended me in La Scala. So he gave me time to grow.”

Maria will be released on December 11 on Netflix US, and on January 10 in UK cinemas.
