Angelina Jolie ‘zeroes in’ on new home abroad as she prepares to leave America, per insider

Angelina Jolie is finally realizing her longtime goal of moving from the United States to Europe and Cambodia.

The actress, a 50-year-old known for her humanitarian work, is selling her $25 million estate in Los Feliz, citing a desire for more privacy. She has lived there with her six children since 2017, according to Page Six sources.

The mother of six intends to split her time between New York, home to her boutique and creative workshop, Atelier Jolie, and various locations in Europe and Cambodia. She has owned a home in Cambodia since 2003, shortly after adopting her oldest son, Maddox.

Actor and producer Jae Benjamin, a close friend of Jolie’s, told Page Six that she really needs to escape the current turmoil, and feels the best way to do that is to physically leave the situation.

Benjamin continued, explaining that she plans to relax and focus only on activities she truly loves and feels passionate about. He described her as a kind, skilled, and generous person.

Jolie, seeking a new beginning away from the US and her difficult split from Brad Pitt, has renovated a 2.1-acre estate named for a famous early Hollywood director. The property includes a main house, gardens, a pool, and a studio.

She has been showing the property around to potential buyers, a source recently told People.

The trouble her friend alluded to stems from her difficult and painful split from her ex-husband, Pitt, who is 62 years old.

After everything she’s experienced with Brad – years of public scrutiny and having their relationship constantly in the spotlight – leaving is the only way for her to find some peace, according to Benjamin, who spoke with Page Six.

He explained that it felt stifling living in a place where everyone knew everyone else, and you couldn’t look around without recognizing a face.

After eight years of court battles, the former couple finalized their divorce on December 30, 2024, but they continue to disagree about ownership of their French winery, Chateau Miraval.

Jolie has long wanted to move away from Los Angeles, but she felt obligated to stay until all six of her children with Brad reached adulthood.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children: Maddox, 24, was born in Cambodia, Pax is 22 and from Vietnam, Zahara is 20 and from Ethiopia, Shiloh is 19 and was born in Namibia, and 17-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox were born in Nice, France. Three of their children are adopted, while three are biological.

When Vivienne and Knox turn 18 on July 12, Jolie will be free to cut ties from the City of Angels.

In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie explained that a divorce agreement requires her to remain in a certain situation until her children turn 18, after which she will be free to move on.

She once said she didn’t want to live in Los Angeles permanently, but she stayed there to be close to her children.

In a 2021 interview with British Vogue, the Academy Award-winning actress explained she purchased her Los Feliz home to be near her children’s father, who lives just five minutes away.

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016 after an argument on their private plane while traveling from France to Los Angeles. Jolie claimed Pitt harmed her and physically threatened one of their children, allegations he disputed.

The FBI investigated the claims but decided not to file any charges against Pitt. Similarly, the Department of Child and Family Services found no evidence of abuse.

Reports indicate the children have sided with Jolie, who has been their primary caregiver.

Okay, so I’ve been following everything, and it’s just… amazing! Shiloh officially changed her name, dropping ‘Pitt’ the second she turned 18 on May 27th – so powerful! And Zahara? She introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when she joined her sorority at Spelman, which is just… yes! Then there’s Vivienne, who’s already a little Broadway star and listed herself as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for ‘The Outsiders’! It’s like they’re all subtly, beautifully making their own identities, and I’m living for it!

Now, Jolie is looking ahead to a life without constraints.

According to a source who spoke with People magazine, she’s eager to move on from Los Angeles and start a new chapter. She’s particularly excited about the freedom and opportunities 2026 will bring.

Jolie is reportedly considering splitting her time between Cambodia, France, and parts of Africa.

Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son Maddox in 2002, is expected to be a primary base.

The source told People that these locations are particularly meaningful to her. She shares close bonds with friends in each of these places, viewing them as trusted confidants and like family.
