Angelina Jolie was ‘demanding’ with sons Maddox and Pax on set of her movie Without Blood, says star Salma Hayek: ‘They work hard’

Her dedication to instilling professionalism and discipline in Maddox and Pax, while also fostering a nurturing environment, is truly commendable.
Angelina Jolie encourages her children to join the family profession, yet she doesn’t grant them any leniency when it comes to their work responsibilities.
49-year-old Oscar laureate employed her two sons, Maddox (age 23) and Pax (age 20), who is currently recuperating following an e-bike accident, in the assistant director section for her film “Without Blood.
The AD department serves as a liaison between the director and other departments.
At the Toronto International Film Festival premiere on Sunday, Star Salma Hayek, aged 58, shared with People that everyone on set worked diligently. Moreover, she mentioned that the director was extremely professional during their filming.
The Academy Award nominee stated that she was assertive and commanded respect from the crew, as she skillfully managed them and maintained a strong presence.
In that place, their behavior towards me was different than it usually is. They seemed insistent, almost demanding that I join them, and I found myself complying readily. There was a sense of enjoyment or excitement about it all.
‘They work hard. They are very serious about what they do.’
Hayek and Jolie worked together on 2021’s Eternals and became friends.
The Mexican-born beauty said she had to adjust to the way she interacted with the boys on set.
As I initially engaged in playful banter with them, it eventually became necessary for me to assert, “Actually, I must distance myself and interact with them as peers, as anything less would be disrespectful.” This is how I put it.
After making a full recovery from his latest e-bike mishap, Pax was able to accompany his mother on the red carpet event. However, Maddox chose not to go to the festival.
Without Blood is a ‘parable-like tale of family, war, and revenge’ according to the TIFF synopsis.
At the dawn of the 20th century in an untamed wilderness, outlaws make their way to a secluded farmstead with vengeance on their minds. The victims are a doctor and his family – his son and daughter – who struggle valiantly to shield their children. It’s only a matter of time before shots ring out.
Hayek said there was a bit of a role reversal with Jolie during the making of the film.
In the film “[Eternals]”, I took on something akin to a maternal role towards her. The way I see it, in this movie she became my surrogate mother, as she would manage the set with the care and guidance one might expect from a family matriarch.
She was a very efficient mother, but she was also there emotionally every step of the way.’
16-year-old Valentina, Hayek’s daughter who she has with her husband François-Henri Pinault, also joined the filming. Hayek mentioned that having her there made the shooting experience feel incredibly cozy and delightful.
