Production on the movie has begun, with Anders Sørhaug directing. He also developed the original story and served as an executive producer, while William Day Frank wrote the screenplay.

Jolie stars in and produces the film, with Nathan Klingher from Gramercy Park Media, Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures, and Jeffrey Greenstein from A Higher Standard also serving as producers, in association with Choice Films.

Fasano believes audiences will be surprised and captivated by Angelina Jolie’s performance in this role.

I’m really getting invested in the world Eva and Angelina built. It’s brutal, all about just trying to survive, but at its heart it’s a story about family. You’ve got this mom who’s fiercely protective of her two sons and will do absolutely anything to keep them safe. It’s intense, but really compelling.

Klingher praised Angelina’s performance, saying she brought something special and unique to the role. He also noted that well-made, character-focused thrillers are uncommon, and the dedication to detail from both Angelina and Eva was truly remarkable.

I just finished watching this really interesting movie called Maria starring Angelina Jolie. She plays Maria Callas, the famous opera singer, and honestly, it was captivating. The script was written by the same guy who did Peaky Blinders, so you know it was good! It basically shows Callas’s incredible life and career, right up until she passed away in 1977. It’s a really deep and well-made biopic.

Maria was released in 2024 and is currently available to stream on Netflix in the UK.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
