Angelina Jolie recently shared details about her divorce from Brad Pitt, describing the difficult experiences that led to their separation after eight years of marriage.
The 50-year-old actress filed for divorce from the 61-year-old actor in 2016, shortly after a highly publicized incident on a private plane. She alleged that he was physically and verbally abusive towards her and their children while under the influence of alcohol, accusations he has denied.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children together: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 16-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne.
Angelina recently shared details about how challenging her divorce was in a court document.
She submitted new legal filings on Monday related to the ongoing dispute with Brad over their French home, Château Miraval.
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Angelina wrote that the reasons she decided to separate from her ex-husband were very hard on her and their children emotionally.
When I filed for divorce, I let him keep our houses in Los Angeles and Miraval without asking for anything in return. I hoped this would help him be more reasonable and peaceful during a very challenging time for both of us.
She added that neither she nor her children have returned to the property since, as it still reminds them of the difficult experiences surrounding their divorce.
After separating, I started looking for a new place for my children and me right away. I first rented a house temporarily while searching for something more permanent.
I wanted Brad to stay involved in our kids’ lives, so I decided to look for a house close to where he lived.
I had most of my money invested in Miraval at the time, and I hadn’t requested any financial help from Brad, like spousal support.

Documents obtained by DailyMail.com show his unsuccessful attempts to remove Alexey Oliynik from his position at the Stoli Group.
He asserts that Oliynik was directly involved in the talks between Jolie and her representatives, and the documents he’s asking for support his main arguments in the case.
The judge has yet to rule. DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for comment.
In a recent legal document, the celebrity requested that Oliynik provide all communications about the sale of Angelina’s ownership, including any messages exchanged with his former wife and her representatives.
Oliynik claims he lives in Switzerland and therefore shouldn’t be required to participate in the California lawsuit.
According to a source who spoke with UsWeekly, this is just the latest instance of the defendant refusing to hand over documents that could shed light on the situation.

According to legal papers acquired by People magazine in February 2022, the actress known for playing Maleficent sold her share of the business to Tenute del Mondo, which is part of the Stoli Group.
Pitt argues that Jolie’s old company, Nouvel, had an agreement giving his company, Mondo Bongo, the first opportunity to invest in any new projects.
Following their breakup, Brad has a strained relationship with his and Angelina’s kids.

‘It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,’ Jennifer said at the time.
In my late thirties and forties, I experienced some very difficult times. Looking back, I realize those challenges were essential to my personal growth. I was also trying to get pregnant during that period.
I spent years trying to get pregnant, and it was incredibly difficult. I tried everything – IVF, herbal teas, anything and everything I could think of.
Looking back, I wish someone had just told me to seriously consider freezing my eggs. It honestly never even crossed my mind at the time! Jennifer was 35 years old when she and Brad separated, and she has stated that claims he ended their relationship because she didn’t want to have children are completely false.
