After receiving criticism for her “sour grapes” remarks about her 2023 Oscars loss to Jamie Lee Curtis, Angela Bassett shared a pleasant dinner with her fellow cast members from the movie “Zero Day.

On Thursday, the 66-year-old actress dined out with Robert De Niro, his companion Tiffany Chen, Matthew Modine, along with producers Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim at The Corner Store in New York City.

Angela elevated her appearance by donning black and brown platform shoes, while opting for a smoky eye makeup style for the event.

81-year-old actor Robert De Niro, known from “The Godfather,” stayed cozy in a black beanie and coat during his evening excursion. On the other hand, Tiffany opted for a sleek, sporty all-black ensemble.

In a stylish ensemble, Modine, aged 65, donned a leather jacket, a black t-shirt, jeans, and a scarf, whereas Newman and Oppenheim opted for warm coats to shield themselves from the chill.

The political thriller series “Zero Day,” jointly created by Eric Newman, the mastermind behind “Narcos,” narrates a story where a former United States President (portrayed by De Niro) is lured out of his peaceful retirement to track down the origin of a lethal cyberattack. As he delves deeper, he uncovers an intricate net of deceit and conspiracies, as depicted by Netflix.

Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons and Connie Britton also make up the series’s star-studded cast.

All six episodes of Zero Day are now available to stream on Netflix.  

Following the backlash from fans, Bassett expressed her continued frustration over not winning the 2023 Best Supporting Actress award, which ultimately went to Jamie Lee Curtis.

In the case of the screen icon, her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever earned a nomination, whereas Curtis secured a win for her portrayal in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

At the event, Bassett expressed that she believed the honor was essentially inevitable, considering the hard work she had dedicated throughout her career, a labor that had previously earned her recognitions like a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. In simpler terms, she thought the award was practically guaranteed due to her impressive career accomplishments, which include prestigious awards such as a Primetime Emmy and two Golden Globes.

In an interview with Town & Country, she shared her thoughts by saying, “It was intriguing to me. It was fascinating that I wasn’t permitted to feel let down over a result where I believed I had earned success.

In a previous statement, Bassett expressed her fondness for acknowledging others’ efforts. However, she clarified that beforehand, she felt she had earned recognition due to her hard work, but quickly corrected herself: “No, I didn’t just receive it; I invested the time and produced good work consistently. I didn’t consider that a gift; I thought it was a given.

Fans quickly accused the star of having ‘sour grapes’ and lambasted her ‘attitude’ over the loss.
