Angel Reese shoots her shot and lands a co-starring role on ‘Hunting Wives’

Angel Reese doesn’t miss.

The two-time WNBA All-Star has joined the cast of Netflix’s hit murder mystery “The Hunting Wives” for its second season, the streamer announced Tuesday. Reese will portray “Trainer Barbie,” which is described as a co-starring role.

Chicago Sky forward Reese is a big fan of the drama series “Hunting Wives,” calling it “CRAZYYY but good” on X (formerly Twitter) back in August, even though she didn’t love the season one finale. Rebecca Cutter, the show’s creator, noticed Reese’s post and publicly thanked the basketball star for watching.

WNBA star Angel Reese and Olympic gymnast Suni Lee are breaking new ground as the first high-profile athletes to appear in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, modeling lingerie.

Reese replied to Cutter, saying she was happy to return for a second season and included a winking emoji.

“On it my queen,” replied the showrunner with a saluting emoji. And it appears she really was.

The role seems perfectly suited for Reese. While playing college basketball at Louisiana State University, where she helped the team win an NCAA championship, she earned the nickname “Bayou Barbie.” After being drafted to the Chicago Sky in 2024, fans started calling her “Chi Barbie” as well.

This month, Angel Reese has landed two new roles. She’ll be starring in a project called “Trainer Barbie” and will also voice a character alongside WNBA star A’ja Wilson in the animated movie “Goat,” which is produced by NBA player Steph Curry. These opportunities come after a cameo appearance in Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming thriller, “A House of Dynamite.” Beyond acting, Reese is quickly becoming a style icon, recently appearing in the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and serving on the host committee for the 2025 Met Gala.

Brittany Snow plays Sophie O’Neil, a former Boston housewife who becomes involved with the glamorous and influential Margo Banks, played by Malin Akerman, in the series “The Hunting Wives.” Season two is currently being filmed and will add new cast members Kim Matula, Alex Fitzalan, John Stamos, Dale Dickey, and Cam Gigandet to the returning actors, including Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box.
