Oh, it just breaks my heart! Poor Prince Andrew… first all the scandal, and now they’ve forced him out of Royal Lodge! Can you imagine? That gorgeous place, gone! He’s all alone now, stuck out at Sandringham, and I honestly don’t think he’ll ever adjust to such a… smaller life. It’s just so unfair, and I really worry about him coping with everything.
Maybe he’ll realize how much he has to be thankful for, particularly when he finds out what happened to the person who used to be his closest friend.
I’m thinking of Mogens Tholstrup, a charismatic man from Denmark. Over 30 years ago, he revitalized the London restaurant scene by reopening Daphne’s in South Kensington with a lavish party for 350 guests, complete with plenty of champagne and glamorous attendees.
I can share that 64-year-old Tholstrup is currently in intensive care in South Africa, and he’s fortunate to be alive.
His daughter, Christy, from his marriage to model Paola Schlansen, was rushing to get to his hospital bedside yesterday. She told friends online that if she didn’t respond to messages, it was because she was busy arranging a trip to South Africa.
Christy added that her father had ‘survived a plane crash‘ and had been taken to intensive care.
The re-opening of Daphne’s brought up some complicated feelings for Andrew, as reports noted he had previously been acquainted with at least seven of the women who worked there.
It wasn’t surprising that Andrew quickly became friends with Tholstrup, who always seemed to succeed at everything he tried. He was successful with his restaurants, opening popular spots like Pasha and The Collection, and also had a knack for attracting attention from glamorous women, having dated both Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Lady Victoria Hervey.
In the spring of 2000, the Daily Mail reported that the two were seen enjoying a night out at a nightclub and also attended the royal birthday celebration at Windsor Castle last month.
But, by then, Andrew was being drawn into Jeffrey Epstein’s orbit. The rest is history…
Louise: I thought I did physics, not Quidditch!
Louise Brealey, known for her role in Sherlock, was so excited to be cast in HBO’s upcoming, big-budget Harry Potter series – set to premiere next year – that she almost didn’t realize which character she’d be playing.
I’ll never forget the call! The connection was terrible, really crackly, but then they told me I’d landed a role in Harry Potter. My first question, of course, was ‘What part?’ And they said, ‘The physics teacher!’ Honestly, my reaction was just, ‘Oh – how wonderful!’ It wasn’t exactly a glamorous role, but being part of that world was a dream come true.
Louise, known for her role as Molly Hooper in Sherlock, finally understood everything when she called her boyfriend, actor Ferdinand Kingsley, with the news. He immediately realized it wasn’t a normal school, saying, ‘Wait, it’s not a physics teacher – it’s a magic school!’ Then he jokingly asked, ‘Was it the Quidditch teacher?’ Louise confirmed that he was right – that’s what had given it away.
The role in question – Madam Hooch – was played by Zoe Wanamaker in the original films.
Harry Mount, the editor of Oldie magazine, chose a very familiar face as the winner of this year’s Oldie of the Year award.
Historian Lady Antonia Fraser, age 93, received the prize at a ceremony in London yesterday. Interestingly, she’s also a first cousin of Sir Ferdinand Mount, the father of Prince Harry.
Lady Antonia is a well-deserved winner. Her book, The House That Spoke: The History of a Home, was published in 2025, an impressive 71 years after her first book, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, appeared.
Why Blondie’s Debbie is not a fan of stylists
Let me tell you, you do not want to mess with Debbie Harry! I read this amazing story about how she once completely lost it on a photoshoot – not at anyone directly, but she just had enough! Apparently, she kicked an entire team of stylists – and their dogs – right out of the studio. Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me – she’s a total icon and clearly knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to get it. You just don’t keep Debbie Harry waiting!
Photographer Kevin Cummins remembers that the 80-year-old singer wasn’t pleased to find a lot of people bustling around with no good reason when he arrived for the photoshoot.
He described a typical scene: clothes racks, makeup everywhere, and a stylist accompanied by her two dogs. He was speaking at a photography exhibition showcasing The Cure in London, just before the band was set to headline the Isle of Wight festival.
When she entered, she immediately demanded to know who the stylist was. He explained that he was there to handle her wardrobe, but she angrily told him she preferred to wear her own clothes and then promptly kicked everyone out.
Clara reunites with father Ewan at her 30th birthday party
In 2017, Ewan McGregor’s daughter, Clara, publicly criticized him after photos surfaced of him kissing his Fargo co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. This happened while he was still married to Clara’s mother, Eve Mavrakis, and Clara used an offensive term to express her disapproval.
Clara once harshly criticized Mary, calling her unkind names. However, time has softened things, and Mary recently celebrated her 30th birthday in the US with a heartwarming gathering that included both of her parents and Clara herself.
Clara posted a photo with the Star Wars actor and celebrated entering a new decade. She later apologized for comments she made about Mary, who married Ewan in 2022, admitting she hadn’t handled the situation well.
Emerald Fennell deliberately chose costumes that don’t fit the time period of her film version of ‘Wuthering Heights,’ like a modern, red latex dress. She doesn’t apologize for these choices.
Emerald recalls that Julie Christie’s style in the 1967 film Far From The Madding Crowd – specifically a Sixties dress, false eyelashes, and a beehive hairstyle – was particularly striking, as she shared while at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
It’s important to remember we willingly set aside realism when enjoying a story – and that’s a big part of what makes it fun. The acclaimed director also points out that Emily Brontë’s writing continues to resonate with readers today.
Tycoon Dame Stephanie’s art to raise £1m for charity
The art collection of the late Dame Stephanie Shirley, a prominent figure in the tech world, is expected to generate £1 million for an autism charity, half a year after her passing.
I’m so excited to share that a truly incredible art collection is going up for auction next month at Dreweatts in Newbury! It features amazing modern pieces and sculptures, including works by artists I deeply admire like Barbara Hepworth and Ivon Hitchens. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone who loves modern art.
The money raised from selling the collection of 140 items will be donated to Autistica. Dame Stephanie founded the charity in memory of her son Giles, who was autistic and passed away at the age of 35. She herself passed away last year at the age of 91.
Dame Stephanie’s company, F International, once reached a peak value of £2 billion. She later became a leading UK philanthropist, donating over £70 million to charitable causes.
